Does anyone know how to confirm the flywheel is correctly aligned on a 2.5L 4 cyl [91 wrangler with 94 engine]. We are replacing the clutch slave cylinder and rear main seal. The flywheel completely covers the crank so I could not mark the alignment to the crank so I marked the flywheel by the starter. Unfortunately my helpers did not wait for me to get back to pull the last bolts and remove the flywheel, and the engine crank seems to have moved a little while they were taking out the last bolts. We think we have it correct but would like to confirm this before putting everything back together. Perhaps someone has a picture showing the flywheel with the position of the two sets of four notches for the crank sensor when the crank is at TDC. The Haynes book does not have pictures of the flywheel I have; the one they show has a large hole for the crank in the center; my flywheel has a small hole (about an inch) containing the pilot bearing.

I have a 4.0 and the bolt pattern on the flywheel is NOT symmetrical, meaning the flywheel can only be bolted on one way.

I wish this 2.5 had unequal spacing or an alignment pin; mine has six bolts that appear equally spaced; I will look closer and measure the spacing with a vernier caliper; maybe one is shifted a bit.

Mine appear evenly spaced but they're not. There is only one way all 6 bolts will go in. If it's not aligned right only two or three will go in.

I checked more closely - all of the bolts spacings are 1.1 inch but one which is 1.25 inches.
