A few questions.....

One question about an exhaust leak, and the other on the best upgrade for an exhaust system.

Q1:Exhaust leak..
Noticed that when I come to a stop, I smell fuel. Looked up and down the exhaust and fuel systems no visible signs. It sounds normal, although I do notice a "ticking" noise up front (possible exhaust gasket?). I also noticed that when down shifting, my jeep sounds like a boat in the water (hard to describe).

It's not LOUD, it sounds like any other jeep. The fuel smell is what gets me. Any ideas, someone have this problem before?

Q2: If it is the exhaust, I'm going to be replacing it soon. I've been researching online for awhile for possible upgrades, but I wanted some insider info on it.
It's a 95 wrangler, 2.5, Manual. All stock.

Thanks in advance.

Check to see if all your hoses are connected to your charcoal cannister.

Sounds like an exhaust manifold leak to me. I would look around all the welds for a crack. It could be very small. I had the same problem and same ticking noise. Good luck.

Hmm, I didn't see one or read anything about a charcoal canister on mine, I'm reading the Chilton Jeep 1987-1995 Repair Manual, order number 4065. I read the quotes below too, wondering if it is the exhaust because I can just build a new one, or spend time cleaning the PCV valve.
