How much do you think I could get for my jeep?
This is kind of pointless but I was just wondering what you think I could get for my jeep? I bought ir for $3000 back in February.

Info about it:
2.5L 5 speed
New shocks
82,000 miles
2 new leaf springs
over 75% left on tires
American racing crome steelies
New windshield
Frame is pretty rusty
Hood has a dent all the way across (Had the hood fly up on me on the highway.. forgot to clip it down. I would get a new hood before I tried to sell it)
There's a few spots on the body that have rusted through but nothing too major
It drive great
4wd works

If you want any other info about it let me know. After I get it paid off in about a year I want to upgrade to a "new" Rubi Tj. Let me know how much you think i could get out of it in about a year. Thanks guys :)

Well lets see. We are in the general same area. I just bought my 95 YJ in May 2010 with 111,000 miles, 70 % 30" tires, 2" lift, push bar, both a soft and hardtop, No rust frame or tub and I paid $2200 cash from a private individual.
So far I only did a little paint touch up, tune up, 2 new seats, junk yard tail gate. cleaned the throttle body and replaced the TPS. So I have about 3100. in mine now.

Check e-bay but I'd say your 94 may sell for less than $1200 on you discription.

Man... I think I got ripped off on it :/

I got into an accident last November. Insurance gave me $4500 and I got to keep the Jeep. Mine is a '94, 4.0L 5speed with 168k.
I've been rebuilding the jeep since. Hope to have it on the road for the 4th.

Maine Prices
I dont know about IL prices, but if the frame is solid, it'd get about 3500 here easy on the market, given the mileage, but this is Maine, anything with a good frame and running engine takes a pretty penny. I know we saw a lot of Jeeps in a heck of a lot worse condition than yours for more than 4k in the loca market, we got lucky and found one for 1500 and some trade.

Good luck selling it, but on consideration, you might get more trying to find an out of state buyer if you're willing to go through the hassle.

Ehhh idk I'll consider it. I still got about a year till it's paid off tho so only time will tell.

I suggest looking on Just do a search for Jeep YJ or Jeep. At least around here I see a lot of them for sale, and it is a good point to see what they are going for.

I would say somewhere between 3k and 4k, but a lot of that depends on if there is rust, etc.

On another hand I would probably sell the hard top separately. Of course it is different from place to place but here in NC hard tops sell for about 500 - 600 by themselves without doors. However in a colder climate hard tops are more common and you probably will not get as much.

Good luck. By way sell?

Agree with Clerks37. Why sell? Put some $ into it and fix it up.

If you have the time, I'd say part it out. It takes longer and is more of a hassle but you will get WAY more cash-ola for it than trying to sell it in the condition you've described.

the 2.5 is the deal killer though.

Kohrs93 06-30-2010 10:42 PM

I've thought about fixing it up, but in order to do that i would need alot of money and alot of skills which i don't have (welding, fabricating, etc..)

I'm hoping to get about $2000 out of her by the time I go to sell her. And get maybe a $5000 or $6000 dollar loan for a jeep in better condition.
