Cold air intake worth it?

Hey,
Got a chance to get a Rugged Ridge CA intake from a guy for just $60. Other than looking cool, is it worth it on my little 4 banger?

Also, I currently have blow-by oil staining my paper filter, so wondering where that stuff's going to go if I install this?

I would think that it would be much better than the stock setup. If you take out your intake box and replace it with just this filter setup it will raise your intake so water crossings will be a little better. I stalled mine out before from getting it too deep. That was a huge mistake.

Waste of money. Most of these so called "Cold Air" intakes on the market just move the filter outside the box where it just pulls in the hot air from the engine compartment. Those little heat shields that come with them are a joke.
At least the stock filter box pulls air from inside the grille. The only true CAI is the Snorkel or something which pulls air from outside. And even with that any power increase will be minimal at best.

I put a K&N on my 4.0 and noticed the difference right away.

I have a cheapie CAI and noticed a little difference in power and gas mileage, has a cool sound (in my opinion) .You could build an oil seperator ,find or build a small container or bottle with an inlet and outlet at the top of the container so as oil gets passed through it drops to the bottom of the container and is trapped this would go in-line on the tube from the PCV elbow ,just remember to empty it now and again .I dont have one ,havnt had any issues with it spewing oil as of yet.If you want me to draw you a diagram of how to build one let me know.

I would love to see a diagram of your idea man. I bet a lot of other people would too.
