Polk audio speakers all the way around, with 4 channel amp. Basslink in the rear which is nice and compact with built in amp. Make sure run your wires correctly to prevent feedback noise.

Rockfords in the dash and sound bar custom built windshield speaker pod with alphasonics one 12" hifonics sub powered by a Rockford r500-1. plan is to go to all rockford

coastalwrangler 02-20-2014 10:08 AM

Polk db's all the way around with an alpine type r 10 in the back running off a 5 channel amp.

Brit Nick 02-20-2014 10:19 AM

RF 5.25 in dash, RF 6.5 and RF tweeters in the sound bar, powered from a RF 5 channel amp under the back seat.

01TJ60 02-20-2014 12:09 PM

Kenwood Excelon Head Unit, Alpine R Series 6 1/2 in Soundbar & 4x6 in the dash, Kicker CVT Sub in console, running off Kenwood Excelon 5 ch amp mounted under rear seat.

Have also heard great things @ the Polk db speakers. Sounds like a better deal for the $ than what I have above.

Tiburon 02-20-2014 12:17 PM

Alpine CDA-9813 head unit, Infinity Reference 4x6 in the dash, Polk MOMO 6 3/4" components in the overhead. Polk MOMO 75w x 4 Amp. The radio runs the front speakers and the amp runs the components. Its a 9 year old system and I can't believe it still runs great.

ElectricVolvo 02-20-2014 01:21 PM

Polk DBs front n rear. Kenwood excellon head. Alpine type S 10" sub. 5ch alpine amp. Couldnt ask for much better considering the speaker locations.

So I am completely new and learning this whole speaker thing. I've looked at a bunch of threads on this already but is this doable and good enough to make my stock setup sound better?

I currently have a Pioneer DEH-X6600BT CD Receiver with all stock speakers. Wanted to get Polk DB521 for the front speakers and Polk Audio DB651 for the soundbar. Would this improve at all or is it not enough? Do I need an amp?

I just bought those very speakers and will install this weekend. I have stock HU. Also got the kicker sub that replaces the factory console unit. No amp yet, so I will let you know what I think. Honestly, they have to sound better than stock....

That will definitely upgrade your sound quality. Don't forget to get the speaker adaptor for the fronts and be sure you pay attention to the polarity of the speaker wires. Adding an amp will further improve sound quality and also allow the speakers to sound louder without distortion. (It does more but that's the simple answer)

kolky 02-20-2014 06:13 PM

I run an Alpine CDE-HD148BT (or as of this weekend I will... replacing my other Alpine with it), Alpine Power Pack amp, Polk DB521 in the front, DB651S in the rear, a Pioneer mono amp under the seat powering a 10" Elemental Design sub.

I put the new Dx521s in the front tonight. They replaced the stock 7 speaker system infinity speakers. Took all of 15 minutes with the wire adapters, brackets, and baffles from amazon. Big improvement for sure, more bass and very clear vs stock. Can't wait to get the rears and sub in. Attachment 788257 Stock front Attachment 788265

Micky80 02-20-2014 06:42 PM

The radio that came in it from the factory.

mmmanimalfat 02-20-2014 06:42 PM

Jvc head unit. (Previous owner). 4x6 Memphis m class, front. 6.5" memphis m class in sound bar. Rockford fosgate 500x4 amplifier. I'm working on a forward facing 8" subwoofer enclosure to fit under the dash in line with the space between the center console to the firewall. (Will likely use a Memphis/ Rockford combination there as well)
Good luck!

I have a 98 and have installed the following

Center console from a 2005 with sub and upgraded the sub to the kicker 40cwrt672
Changed front 4x6 to the 7 speaker pods. Will be replacing the speakers in the pods soon.
Soundbar still has stock speakers
Head unit I pulled from a 2007 Durango and installed. It is an RAQ model.

CarolinaBound 02-21-2014 10:58 AM

Pioneer head unit and 6 1/2s over head, just got the brackets and will be moving the old infiniti 5 1/4s into the dash. Also finally have my amp (Kicker DX250, picked it up for $55) so will have a 10" sub in the console

Where has everyone been putting their amps? Buddy of mine said under the seat but will that let it breath enough, heat wise? First time touching this stuff

I-Want-A-Jeep 02-21-2014 11:45 AM

I have a Kenwood eXcelon head unit with Elemental Designs 6.5" components up front in q-forms kickpanel enclosures running off a WetSounds SynMicro amp. I also have an Elemental Designs 13ov.2 12" sub in a 30hz ported enclosure behind the back seat running off an Elemental Designs nine.2x amp. Both amps are under the rear seat.

CarolinaBound 02-21-2014 11:54 AM

Ya bolt them down or anything? Same guy I was talking to went the poverty route and just set it down on a towel lol. Might be my solution until it warms up a bit. Taking advantage of this 50 degree day to wire it up though, the sub been sitting in my garage for a year

I-Want-A-Jeep 02-21-2014 12:00 PM

Behind the rear seat there isn't much clearance. The seat holds them in place. They don't get much ventilation but they've never shut off from overheating.

CarolinaBound 02-21-2014 12:01 PM

Awesome, thanks!

I-Want-A-Jeep 02-21-2014 12:02 PM

If you put them under the front seat though I would definitely bolt/screw them down.

Depending on size of amp, you might be able to mount it under the steering column. That's what I did, but it was a tight fit to clear the brake pedal

Which 5 channel amp are you using?

BurlySoldier 02-22-2014 04:55 AM

Kenwood head unit, kicker 6.5's, Rockford 5.25's, and a custom enclosured Sundown SA8" with a 2000 watt hipnotik amp. I shake mirrors of cars 2 cars behind me. I'm that guy.
