Save the cash for fuel....

Are you wanting the Jeep to sound like a ricer with a fart-can? Being 16, in a Jeep with loud exaust just says "pull me over"

i say save it and get a lift, something like a budget boost or save a little longer and get lift springs and such.

hearing a really loud exhaust all the time gets annoying

Go with the Budget Boost or regular lift with springs. If you were going for a Body Lift, the JKS 1.25" is what I am running with no complaints. You dont want to go much over that because it can become unsafe and visually unappealing for most.

x2

x2,000,000....specially since exterior noises are heard much more in the passenger compartment of our Jeeps than most other vehicles. I hated my "loud" exhaust, and it wasn't even That loud!

The noise is a matter of opinion. I have a Borla in mine and absolutely love it. It's got a nice deeper growl to it, comparable to the Flowmaster 40. But you talking roughly $400 + installation for the complete set if you can't weld. The lift on the other hand is a days work. Stick with that option.

Yeah you're right about it being a matter of opinion. I guess it a matter of quality too....my Dynomax didn't sound good, IMO, and didn't hold up for long either. I know price doesn't always mean quality, but my $70 Dynomax compared to your $400 Borla, in a sense, speaks for itself. You got quality my friend, maybe that was my problem! :wavey:

Lift first.

Lift first,Tires, winch, then save up and get a good quality exhaust like a Banks or Borla, then you will have a rig that sounds and looks the part. Not some noisy stock jeep.

Banks Monster Exhaust runs under $300 when on sale... nothing wrong with loud exhaust if that's what you want, just keep it legal. Keep your receipts to prove what it is just in case the cops hassle you though I highly doubt they will. Drive like you're expected to and you shouldn't have any problems with cops whether you're 16 or 55. I had a Flowmaster 40 series put on my truck when I was 17 and I wasn't pulled over for it once...I also could set off car alarms with it so it sure as crap wasn't legal. Now I DID get pulled over with my truck completely stock when I continuously drove like speed racer.

And personally I would go for the exhaust first...nothing wrong with going for the lift first, but if it were me, I'd want to get new wheels and/or larger tires with that lift and that's a helluva lot more than $300.

If you do go with a body lift, I'll second the JKS 1.25" BL...you don't wanna go any higher than that on a BL.

i'm not real big on body lifts i'm more about function than just clearing tires... but it all boils down to what you really want for me a ricer loud exhaust is annoying but i'm all about an exhaust that makes your engine breathe better and sound better anyway i'd say exhaust first man helps with your gas mileage

I don't think most exhaust systems for the TJ really help much as far as power/mpg...some may help a little, but I think it's pretty minimal at best.
