repair book question
Can someone who has either the Haynes or Chiltons repair manual that covers the 97 chime in and let me know if it has decent coverage of the vacuum system? Recently did a cylinder head job and a few too many things got disconnected, and since no parts store around has either book in stock, I'd really like to know if ordering one would be worthwhile. Thanks in advance.

Both of those books are are too general and try to cover too many model years to be all that trustworthy when you need details. If you plan to keep that '97 long enough, I'd fork out the extra $$$ for the factory service manual.

If you need one, my '97 TJ was stolen so my two-volume '97 FSM is for sale. PM me if you're interested.

If you have a specific question on where something goes on your '97, I will probably remember.

I agree, I was disappointed in the lack of info for my 2003 in the haynes manual. They don't even have a photo of the I-6, ........They have one of the 4 banger, and one of the V6.

The chilton's manual for my Honda prelude was great, had more info than necessary.

Oh, were would you locate a factory service manual?

I saw a used one on ebay for about 30 bucks.....but I hate ebay.

For finding used factory service manuals, eBay is really your best bet. Just be aware that some are the actual manuals printed on paper, others are nothing more than a DVD that requires a computer to use. Personally, I have both types and I HATE the DVD version, it's just too hard to find what you're looking for on the DVD unless you don't use it that often and know exactly what you're looking for. Schematics are especially onerous on the DVD since circuits typically run between many pages and it's too hard to follow circuits when you can't just flip between physical paper pages.
