No other replies??? Since this was posted in February?? Really?!?!? I'm interested but don't have a lot of time to play with. Is this deal dead??

Never mind. I realized this bumper isn't tow rated. Since we have a 6x12 trailer we tow regularly, this was a deal killer for me. I did however, find a bumper/tire carrier combo that allows me to use my OEM hitch on your site. :beerdrinking:

I see it has a hitch. There is not a rating for towing? I do have a fairly lightweight bass Tracker boat I tow. (15 ft, 40 hp)

Unfortunately the receiver on the bumper is not tow rated. It is designed for recovery but not rated for towing. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Don't but bumpers attach more securely or as secure to the frame as a towing trailer hitch?

Is there a way to get the bumper tested to see its towing capacity as I'm sure many people who are looking to purchase it (as i am about to with the front bumper) or who already own one can know what it is capable of?

It seems silly that they have D-rings for recovery and a 2" hitch designated for only recovery.

It looks also like having this bumper with that hitch being dropped down like that prohibits you from putting a separate towing hitch on the vehicle.

I agree that these bumpers attach as securely or more securely than tow rated bumpers. Recovery is hard on a bumper and these hold up to it.

We have no bearing over getting a bumper tow rated or not. I know most aftermarket bumper manufacturers don't tow rate their bumpers due to the expense and liability. I imagine that is why Barricade doesn't tow rate their bumpers.

Any in-house test we would do over the bumper's capacities would not be official and could end up being dangerous for anyone using the bumper for anything it isn't officially rated for.

You could always cut out the receiver on the bumper to make room for an OE style hitch if you wanted to. Otherwise those two parts will not work together. Please let me know what other questions you have!

Any idea when the rear bumper with tire carrier will be back in stock?

The only aftermarket bumper I am aware of that has a tow rating is the smittybilt products, my SRC is rated for 5,000lbs. It bolts on the frame rails and the bumper cross member where the stock hitch bolts. So I would guess that if barricade bolts up similar that as long as you are within the JK's limits you should be ok.

Ryan, when you say the receiver is designed for recovery, do you think it'd be okay with a multi-mount winch? A Warn 9.5CTi?

EDIT: After reviewing the install directions, I'd be adding stainless hardware and frame tie ins as well.

Adding grade 8 hardware where it isn't provide and having solid frame tie-in for a TJ/YJ will add a ton of strength. I don't know exactly what the bumper is rated for, but I know they hold up to some hard pulls with a snatch strap!

Let me know if you have any other questions!
