Well it only took 5 weeks...
I have had my Jeep for around 5 weeks, This weekend I took it on its first road trip.

I took it down to Wildwood NJ for a great Ultimate Frisbee Beach Tournament. Seeing how I did not have a place to stay I figured I would find a friend to crash with or just sleep in my Jeep, as a worst case scenario.

So after spending several great hours at the bars, both pool side and inside, I discover that there are already 10+ people crammed into the hotel room so I said "I will just go to my Jeep."

So as I am stumbling to my jeep in the hotels parking lot I get to my jeep and my soft top window was taken off and the center console was open. The bastard(s) took my ipod and FM transmitter!

Now what sucks is that i was borrowing the FM transmitter from my friend so I will have to get him a new one of those, and also I didn't have my ipod for what should have been a 3 hour trip, but really took 6.

There was some good that came about all this, the person(s) where kind enough to unzip the window and take out the window instead of cutting it. They also left all my tools/ez pass/two pairs of prescription glasses.

Now I am just ranting, and if your still reading then good to still have you...but I am just upset because it was the first time I left the ipod in the car. I took it with me Friday night but I just forgot about it Saturday. I, and the Wildwood police officer, also can't believe how easy it is to pull open the stock center consoles. I guess I will be looking into some aftermarket one. Are the aftermarket ones better?

I have always told my self not to keep anything of value in the jeep because they are just too easy to break into. And the one time I do leave something of value it was taken.

I am thinking of putting a sign on the center console that just says "Sorry but someone already took my ipod, however please help yourself to some gum."

The PO of my jeep installed a Tuffy Glove box in the dash. It locks and seems pretty darn secure.

sorry about that man. i have a softtop, and never lock the doors. i figure it would be cheaper for them to steal my gum and water bottle then have to replace the top.

i also got the tuffy security center console. I love it and it would be damn hard for someone to get into it with out making noise or attracting attention.

Sorry to hear, there are bad people in the world and this just breaks the heart of any Jeep owner. Glad to hear that your top wasn't damaged:)

I don't lock my Jeep. I keep everything important at home, and some smaller somewhat important things locked inside my Tuffy console. Tuffy makes a fantastic product...and when I priced them out had the best prices.

My Jeep has been invaded twice....the feeling makes me nauseous. I just hope I can catch the bastards (I have a trap set now...involves me, a gun, and a motion sensor with alarm inside my house). We shall see if I get to practice my marksmanship on moving targets.

You have my apologies for this crude act committed by a fellow Jersey-ite. Not everybody in NJ is like this. This is why i don't leave anything valuable in the Scream Machine. unfortunately nobody has tried to take the Sony Xplode. :banghead:

:wavey: Have you checked out the lockable box that goes under the drivers seat? Just a thought.

Very sorry to hear that. People are very cruel and that is very unfortunate.

I never lock the doors to my Jeep......then again I usually leave the keys in it too !!!

Maybe I'm not the best example to follow

I have often thought of installing a game cam in my Jeep. they make them lockable so you can't steal the cam. A good cuddiebak cam is about $130.
