2010 Soft Top Question

I have been waiting for my soft top for weeks from the dealership, since it is on back order. This is for my 2010 Unlimited.

I found a guy about an hour away who is selling a soft top for a 2010, but he doesn't know if it has the cable system. Can anyone tell me if there is a visual difference between the soft top that uses the cable system, and the soft top that doesn't?

Also, his is used and described as in great shape. Does $850 sound like a reasonable price?

Thanks!!

depends on the brand, if its a stock MOPAR then yes... 850 sounds nice considering a replacement is 1349.99

You could always go with another brand... quadratec has some pretty affordable products on their site.

If the top came from a 2010, it's got the cable. Make sure you get all the hardware, including the door surrounds. It sounds like a good deal.

I grew up in North Jersey and spent a lot of time at Greenwood lake. My uncle lived on the Jersey side and had a boat. We used to fish there a lot.

2010 tops use a cable and spring. The spring will be "hidden" right above the back doors, and the cable will run inside a fabric sleeve to the front. The advantage is that when you flip the sunrider portion (giant sunroof) forward, it snaps into place, and you don't need to work the plastic canards (wings) into the door surrounds. It's a neat feature.

Visually, no you can't tell from 5 feet away. You need to get right up to it, and undo a bit of the fabric to see if the spring is there. Fairly easy if the top is off.

The door surrounds will be different too, but just slightly: it's a smooth "shelf" for the top to sit on, rather than a slot for inserting the canards.

EDIT: Cable top is only on 2010 and 2011 Wranglers, and only on Factory tops.

That's not bad at all. Thanks a lot for doing the search for me. For those who have used both the cable and non-cable version, does having the cable make it that much better?

Thanks a lot to everyone else for your replies as well.

Yes. Having the cable makes it way easier and faster to take up and down. So far, I've had zero leak issues as well.
