So you are complaining about why people make excuses about not doing work, while you are posting a thread on WF?

JeepFrogger 07-26-2010 12:37 PM

hahahahahaha

I don't make up excuses. I tell my boss like it is.

"Tim, why did you only make 10 parts all day yesterday?"

--well it was Friday, I like to take it easy on Friday.

--my machine is a piece of sh*t that I spend more time fixing than running...you know that!

--I ate taco bell so I was in the bathroom 3 times.

and my latest excuse for calling off my 2nd week in a row...

look, I had a cyst on my tailbone the size of a fist. I can't sit, and I'm bleeding constantly. if you can figure out a way I can get there without sitting down and avoiding this biological nightmare on my a**, be my guest

I was going to post a reply, but I have so many other things to do right now, I just can't get to it. Someone let the cat out, my shoelace is tied in a knot, the dog ate my driver's license, it's Monday..............

burton160w 07-27-2010 07:35 AM

I usually like to go with some elaborate stories for why I was late or why I need to take off... my last one was that they found black mold in my new apartment and I need to take the day off to meet with the landlord and figure out if we're going to stay or have to find a new apartment in the next week.

Gate53 07-27-2010 08:12 AM

Years ago I had a guy working for me who had missed 17 Fridays in a row. I called him in (due to pressure from HR) to write him up. I asked him, " Joe, why do you only work four days a week?" His reply was, "I have to have 4 days pay to pay all my bills if you would give me a raise I could only work three." I was so suprised by the reply that I didn't even write him up. LOL

so instead of complaining to people who can't do anything about it, maybe you should take a more proactive approach. :p

seriously, get used to it. the longer you work and the higher you climb, the worse it gets. some of the best coworkers i've had were guys who break their backs and sweat buckets in a warehouse in the middle of summer, while making chicken scratch.

This is perfect, can anybody help me come up with a good excuse to keep missing my 8 am Monday morning meeting? I missed this week and the only thing I could come up with was that I forgot, which actually is the truth but sounds lamer then a good excuse.

jcf 07-27-2010 10:19 AM

Try dealing with the Chrysler dealer in Price UT...then you will hear excuses :mad::mad: they must be the most incompetent people to ever run a dealership. Son's truck has been there for warranty issues for a month. So a rear main takes that long to fix, yeah' right #%$@*! er's

Keep this thread PG-13 or it will have the plug pulled on it.

turdhurdler 07-27-2010 09:08 PM

I have used "Bubble Guts" as an excuse for being late to a meeting. They did not even ask any other questions.

Interesting.... an opportunity to discuss productivity and excuses for the lack there-of.

Here is a video that I try to share with others when I am given any excuse to do so. And I try to watch it at least once a week so that I can stay motivated.

I hope this works...its my first attempt to imbed a video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUMf7FWGdCw

That video was made in 2007....which means the data is 3 years old. In terms of "Information", it might as well be written on papyrus paper (meaning its out-dated).

Thoughts?

Vroooom 07-29-2010 08:35 AM

YAY!!! it worked! :)

Loving this thread! Lots of funny stories! I usually just try to tell the truth...sometimes it gets me in trouble, but being caught in a lie always results in much more trouble.

Here's one way to handle this... tell them you're picking it up on ___insert day here____ whether it's finished or not (prepare to call someone with a tow truck to haul it out if it's not drivable on that day). Tell them if it's not finished, not only are you going to take it to a more competent dealership, but you're also going to file a complaint with Chrysler and you have all the paperwork to back up your story. Right now, a bad mark against the dealership can be a verrrry bad thing...especially if Chrysler has to step in and finds out they're taking their jolly old time on it. I work for the owner of a dealership and they HATE when the Chrysler guys show up because those guys nitpick on everything and will crack the whip to make sure everything is being done right. If something is being half-assed, they rip into the owner of the dealership hard...and guess what happens after the owner gets the ass-ripping from hell? Oh yes, he takes it out on his employees. Not to mention, with Chrysler closing down dealerships that aren't doing so hot...the owners of the dealerships know if they get too many bad marks, their business will be on the chopping block.

Btw...I love how you all are ripping into Tact for this post when I haven't seen anything from him stating that he was posting that from work while on the clock. It appears some of you are making pretty big assumptions...and you know what happens when you assume something...
