Dumb doors question

I noticed when my door is open and no key in the ignition my mileage light lights up. If I remove my doors will it stay on? Cause I don't wanna drain my battery ><;

The mileage indication will shut off after a period by itself

I use the little clips that hold the door switches in so it thinks there is a door closed against it.

You've got three choices. First, use the clips as stated above, second, pull the door light fuse (I can see it just can't remember which number), third get a switch that replaces the door light fuse. I think Quadratec sells it, mounts under your glove box on the dash, and then you just switch the door lights on and off. Comes in handy at night when I'm on the passenger side trying to get something out.

The fuse should be the bottom right one, it's a 10'er. I believe it should be labeled "door defeat". I just did it on my lunch break, why cant I remember??? :confused:

The mileage goes off on mine with the fuse pulled.

You can build a fused switch with parts from radioshack for 5-7 bucks.

i just too the bulbs out of the 2 interior lights (passenger side glove box area and sound bar light). i'm a new jeep owner, but that seemed logical enough. any reason that I should do that as long as I dont mind being in the dark?

the number for fuse is 4, should be below the actual fuse on the panel.

They are no different than a stealership. Out to make as much as you can. I am glad I get OEM parts wholesale through the job.

They aren't ripping people off, they are just taking advantage of how lazy people really are. There is probably $5 worth of material in that part, then they have to pay someone to assemble it and had to design the mounting plate and have it manufactured. (I know it's a very simple piece but still not free.) And in the end they gotta make a profit.

You also need the knowledge to put the radio shack pieces together and have them work correctly. To most people, thats worth $25. :D
