Need some help/advice on control arms
2 Attachment(s)
So i just bought me a 1998 Wrangler and man i am already finding reasons just to go ride in the jeep. I was told it has a 6" skyjacker lift with a High currie 9" rear end with a detroit locker. I sorda under stand with alocker that i will have some backlash and a clunk when i go in gear right? but the rear end feels loose or at least squirly a little to meet i checked the control arms and the lower one on the drivers side you can move around just with my hand is that right all the other 3 still feel pretty snug. Should i just replace the lower 2 control arms and can i get just new ends or do i have to buy a whole ne control arms? Any links on what i need is much appreciated as i am new to this.

Thanks in advance for the help

Sounds like your Rod Ends/Heims are worn out. Not a big deal as they are replaceable, Some movement is ok but if they knock around or are easily moved with the weight of the jeep on them they need replacing. You may want to look into getting JOHNNY JOINTS instead of the ROD ENDS, they will last much longer. Nice getting a Jeep with an already built and installed CURRIE 9", if you ever want to sell it let me know.

Sorry to sound ignorant here but what exactly am i needing to replace? The whole section that looks like it screws into the arm or just the part the bolt goes through.

I am not really looking into getting the best/ longest lasting replacement as i probably wont put 4,000 miles a year on the jeep and i dont do any rock climbing just at the deer lease and a little fun in the mud now and again and of course the beach.

6" short arm, that is a major part of your problem. Replace the heims at the control arm ends.

Also looks like you have a diff leak. And your heims on the upper CAs should line up. Yours do not look like they can flex very much, so your jam nuts will get loose.
