sway bar swifting
 
My sway bar keeps shifting to the left side and the right side keeps catching up on the frame when im driving. Not off road or anything just around town. Its not causing any problems besides a little noise and its annoying. Any ways i was thinking about removing the sway bar and welding on some butters on the outside of the bushing. Any advice would be great i just cant figure out why it keeps shifting and always the same way.

Replace the sway bar bushings...and/or add shaft collars to the inside. I replaced my bushings because I was having the same issues and it stopped

Thanks i think im going to go collar on the inside of the sway bar. Im thinking it wouldnt take much wear before they are able to move again. Cause im up 5.25 inchs on 35's she rolls around alot. I managed to find a pic maybe i will make some of these tomorrow if i have time. I will post pics when im done. The demensions of this one is 1-3/16" Bore, 2-1/16" OD, 1/2" Width.

Bushings to fix sway bar shifting
 
I have an 05 Wrangler Rubicon, 5 1/2 inch lift, 35" tires. My sway bar was sliding to one side or the other and the quick disconnects were rubbing on the frame. I put the bushings shown on the thread, one on the outside of the bushings for the sway bar on each side. I have had these bushings on the sway bar for the last year. They solved the problem, the bushings are steel so they rust a little, but they do not wear, and do not affect the rotation of the sway bar when going over rough stuff but the sway bar is stabilized from side to side. I bought the bushings from Fastenal 1 - 3/16 bore, 1/2 width just like the picture on the thread.

I know it sounds like a Red Green repair, but placing 4 or 5 wraps of electrical tape around the sway bar just inboard or outboard of the bushings would work to keep the sway bar centered. Not as elegant as the metal collar but a very low cost fix.

It's my opinion that the factory front antiswaybar is meant to be able to slide left-right so it can follow the axle. As the axle droops, it moves left and as it compresses upward, it moves right. Locking the antiswaybar in place would prevent it from moving L/R to follow the axle which minimizes the stress on the link's upper ball joints.

Aftermarket antiswaybars that are locked into place come with better links with top & bottom ball joints that have more movement ability which means they're unlikely to break like the factory links are well known to do.

I didn't think about the collars, probably should have done that. I used battery terminal clamps.They are lead and soft but, I was able to spread them enough to install them and they have been working for about 5 years.
