I was hoping to get a few opinions on my recent Jeep build. I've purchased an 02' Wrangler Sport, and as usual I'm in a hurry to finish this project. So far I have a 6" suspension lift kit on the way, and the brand new tires and wheels have already arrived. I was talking to a guy recently (who's opinion I trust) that told me I'm an idiot for my wheel/tire choice. I currently have 35x16.00x15 boggers and 15x14 wheels sitting in my living room. I already know this will look absolutely great, but I now have some serious fears. I was told 14" wide wheels will definitely break the wheel studs and even if the wheels stay on...they'll rub everywhere. Does anyone run anything close to this? Heard anything? Also, is going higher (lift wise) going to solve any rubbing issues? I would appreciate any help! I'm already on my way to 5-6k in parts, and I haven't even driven the jeep!

I wouldn't even consider 15" wide tires for a Jeep that gets driven on the street, and 14" wide wheels are just stupid-too-wide. Personally, I won't run a tire wider than 12.5" (mine are 35x12.50) and wheels that are wider than 15x8. Plus you'd find it very hard to keep a tire seated on a wheel as wide as you are asking about without overinflating it.
The first wet road you drive on with 15" tires, you'll immediately find yourself hydroplaning on the road and out of control. The wider the tire, the more easily it hydroplanes on a wet road surface. Like comparing a water ski to a snow ski.

I don't think its a big deal at all. I have a set of 15 wide welds on a 19.35x44x16.5 on my show truck and it drives down the road great. I also just picked up a jeep that has a set of full width axles in it with 15x14's that have less than 3 inches of backspace and it drives down the road great. This jeep also has a detroit in the back and a v8, no issues in rain, etc. Also, this jeep has a flat on the left front and its a 33x12.50 on a 14 wide rim as I said....bead still seated no problem...so that proves that bead seal is no issue. http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/IMG_6028.jpg

That doesnt make much sense though...the rim is wider than the tires???:confused:

Yeah 2 inches wider than the tires lol....musta been a super big boy to get um up on there. I posted some pics of the jeep in the pic forum (didn't have 44's on it at that time)...but here's a video of it YouTube - ‪Should of Rolled‬‎

Horsepower is your friend lol.....I sold it to my neighbor and built a truggy last year...couldn't bring myself to cut up another jeep for something I am gonna tear up anyway :)

I used to run a 15x 18 weld racing rim on a swamper 33x 15.50. Everyone told me it would come unseated and it never did -never had a problem on stock axles-it was a 94 yj with a 4" suspension 2" Body
