my gps on dashboard

Since buying my jeep a few weeks ago, i could'nt really find a neat place where to install my magellan gps on the dashboard (there is not that much place anyway). (I don't like the suction cup gizmos you install on the windshield and i did not want any screws in the dashboard...). So i conveniently placed it to the right of the steering wheel. Cut out a piece of sheet metal, worked at it a bit and then a few velcro strips did the job.

It ain't perfect, but it's functional !

love the placement as long as it dosint block anything it looks like you found the perfect spot!

Nice!

I have mine (just above where yours is mounted) on a sandbag mount. I might look into your method though...

I like to use mine on the left side. So I have mine in the upper left side of the dash. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...ingspot004.jpg

How did you fixed it?
I like mine to the left too as here in Australia we drive on the right side. Those "Poms" like to be different...;-)))

it does not really block anything (instrument panel or front view). I guess i'll post a "driver's perspective" photo later on.

Id love some detailed shots, not really following how you worked the sheetmetal design for the GPS without seeing some shots.

The mount I have is a self adhesive base, bought at walmart. The arm rotates 360 degrees, and can lock in any position. You can also remove the arm and only the base remains.

I gotta ask; what's a Pom?

Backwoods81 08-12-2010 05:32 AM

Nice mounting spot Taigablues. One question though, do you hit your hand on it all when turning or using your wipers? Just curious because I REALLY like this spot. Haha

Pom is an English man. Pom comes from the time English prisoners were sent in Australia to prepare for the settler P=prisoner O=of M=Majesty(her). Voilą!!
