Sportsman Guide tow straps

:mad:http://image.sportsmansguide.com/dim...0,300&cvt=jpeg

Free up a stuck-in-the-mud vehicle or raise and lower cargo with a crane. Spooled. Each 1 3/4" w., approx. 22' long. 1 lb., 4 ozs. Condition: used, like new condition. May come in Olive Drab or White, Sorry no choice.

Interesting how they advertised a tow strap USED 2 for $20. 6/23 that was placed on backorder and later cancled as not available.
2 French Military 8,880 - Lb. Tow Straps, Military Surplus, Brand Not Specified, Spooled France Military Tow Straps 2 Pack at Sportsman's Guide
Then they post this item which is the ssme picture as a matter of fact however is now $15. ea and NEW
New French Military 8,880-Lb. Tow Strap, Military Surplus, Brand Not Specified at Sportsman's Guide

I am not a rocket scientist however it looks like when they got the French straps in that were on back order they were in better shape then was told by their supplier. So SG cancel all BO and re-post to sell at a higher price.

I did order one for $15. today and they were nice enough to honor the BO and not charge shipping again however this is the last thing I'll buying Sportsmans Guide.. and i have spen lots of money here.

Kinda sad a Corperation has to stoop so low.

I've never really like the "used" stuff from them. How could you feel OK buying used items you can't see and have no idea what condition they are in? Seems like asking for trouble to me.

mrcarcrazy 08-13-2010 04:19 PM

metal hooks = no buy to me.

not to mention the 8,800lb limit

I'll spend the change on real recovery straps so I don't die.

They are from France. Must be lame.

cavediverjc 08-13-2010 04:24 PM

Yeah, metal hooks are a no-go. If the straps were rated for more than 8,880 lbs, a person could probably get away with removing the metal hooks and using the straps.

Agree with anything metal , lost a grill, trans cooler and bent condensor on my S-10 from trying to be a nice guy. I dont run any thing under 20,000 lbs now.

I'll use metal hooks, maybe not these, but buying any used product that has a disclamer attached saying anything like "sorry, no choice, actual product may not look like picture" is just asking for trouble.

Why would you use them if you have a choice not to?

Proud Rebel 08-13-2010 05:24 PM

Those metal hooks make perfect projectiles when they break...
