Grease Spots on Rear Bumper

All,

Recently purchased a 2010 4-Door Sahara. I have noticed lately that I am getting what looks like grease spots on the rear bumper that are very difficult to get off. I have the silver colored middle section on my bumpers and it seems to me that something is dripping off the back tire, or tire mount when it rains and is staining the bumper. I have tried everything to get the stains off but without any success. I manage to get the majority of the "grease" off but it still leaves a mark. Anyone else having a similar problem? If so, any suggestions on how to get the bumper clean?

Cheers,

for now, use this stuff.

I've used it a few times and it seems to do pretty good. I don't know how but during an oil change my dad and I were screwing around with my old oil filter. we got oil EVERYWHERE. the door, top, and front bumper. that stuff got it right off.

I recently rotated the tires and put too much anti-seize on my hub threads. I had grease on my fenders, door, top, and tire. that stuff took it off too. I mainly use it to clean dead bodies off my windshield.

after that, remove your spare. clean up inside your wheel, and spray out the lugs and mount threads. it's either grease or corrosion I think dripping down from there onto your bumper when it rains or whatever.

Thanks. I will give it a try.

Interesting, I have the same problem. I find the Turtle Wax Bug Remover actually works very well, one spray, and literally, it wipes off with a tissue.

Not sure what it is, but my theory is that soap/tire cleaner from the back tire hangs around on the inside of the rim and slowly drips down after cleaning the vehicle (a day or two later I notice the stain again).

Anyone know for sure what is causing this .. b/c a bit of a pain?

Also, this sounds obvious, but it is a lot easier to clean when you open the back door lol ... the first two times, I scrubbed under the tire and it gives your hand quite the exfoliation.

Because you say it happens when it rains....first thing that popped in my head was rain and tire shine mixing on the spare tire and dripping off the tire onto the bumper. Or it could just be the oils in the new spare tire dripping off with the rain.
I bet if you put a spare tire cover on there it would stop.

Take the SPare off and scrub it clean. I had the same problem and it went away after scrubbing it, or like KBR97 said a Tire Cover works as well

i have the same problem. always figured it was from the massive amount of tire shine the dealer put on the spare tire. no matter how much i crubed the spare it never went away. so now i just live with it and make sure to wax that area of the bumper so that it wipes off easy.

its not from tire shine really cause i have had the same problem since i got my sahara. its from all the dirt and after it rains it obviously drips down and stains the silver paint. my solution was my cousin owns a body shop so we re painted and put on a real thick clear coat i also wax my car at least once a month and wash it just about everyday cause i am a fanatic with keeping my cars clean but i havent put tire shine on it since day one and it will still do it just got to be on top of it and when it rains make sure you wipe it down throughout the day. the wheel cover is the best solution but also in my opinion takes away the good look of the jeep so i just literally wash it everyday and put spray wax on it after every wash.

I think I've washed my 2000 TJ (bought in 2004) at least once. :D
I prefer to use the natural shower to clean it off.
