ADVICE - May have found a project jeep
Ok guys, newbie here looking for a first jeep to fix up for my son's 16th. I found this the other day, it sounds like a deal, it was originally posted for sale 8-10-10 and no one on the forum has bitten yet, but it is on a gun forum so there may not be anyone but me there looing for a jeep, hehe. Any advice?

Frame has been reinforced and hitch added. Have a really nice rear bumper. Metal for a matching front bumper will go with project. All new floors already installed. Tub and fenders are Ready for the media blaster (paint is stripped and rust fixed) Come look if interested I have no pictures. Call me at. Will take $750 CASH with title and current black tag.

no motor but frame is set up for a SBC

Need to move this guys. Have another project I need cash for. Will take $600 cash if you dont want title. $740 with but really guys cannt go lower. Parts alone are worth the money. Still open to gun trades but prefer cash Thanks

Was running but have since sold the 283 that was in it. Frame is set up for SBC. All the floors in the front and rear of the tub are new, Come on guys there over $750 in transmission/tranfer case and CJ-7 front grill. If you are looking for a good jeep project this is it. ALOT of the work has been done for you. Ready to be soda blasted and painted.

All I can say is do it for the kid :) I would have been the happiest 16 year old to get something like that with a chevy v8 in it. No idea what kinda work you are looking at or the availability of the parts. But if you have the cash and know how that would be something your son would NEVER forget.

Plus those things can be damn nice looking when they are finished and there are not many of them still kicking around.

Just be realistic, once you have seen it decide on if it might not be better to find a newer yj to build for him.

Forget everything i just said and get the that would be cool

that sounds like a good deal. jeepsters are just cool like wildkarde said theres not many of them around anymore. good luck.

That would be great for a father/son project. By building it together you will know that it is done properly and he will have the knowledge and incentive to take care of it.

That was my first "car." Rebuilt it one summer with my dad.
Learned a lot about cars.

Still one of my favorite vehicles. I was looking at one just the other day, but it sold out from under me. (better for my marriage anyway).

Keep in mind that SBC might make it move fairly fast, and the brakes will suck (they're 1969 drums). Might not be the best combo for a kid. But you could always pull out a couple spark plug wires. :-)

I asked for pictures and his response was that it was stored at his dads place and to come see it. It's about 100 miles from me, but I will call him today to ask questions and am planning to go look at it Saturday and take my own pictures. I'mmsuremitman ugly pile of parts, but if it's all there, in good shape and ready to paint, like he says then it's a steal. I have no problem putting a somewhat tired old 350 in it until the boy musters up a good part of the cash for discs and stout motor. Hopefully I'll post some pics Saturday evening.

OK, anyone care to guess what it might cost me to put A/C in the jeepster project?

tncruiser 08-21-2010 05:23 PM

my question would be why more with a title
to me no title =no deal
if he keeps the title he could come back later and say he still owns the jeep
and that it was stolen while in storage you would be sol

I agree, no title, not interested. My niece was admitted into intensive care so I didn't end up going to look at it. Niece is fine now and i plan to go check this out some time next week.

I finally came to the conclusion that I don't have teh roome for a project
I hate to pass this one up, but I just don't have the space in the garage right now. My next project will be a storage building!

Someone should snag this one up.
