Click, Click, Click...........Click, Click, Click.......

what is that clicking noise coming from under the dash on the passenger side? Thanks, Scooby

AzTJ 02-11-2007 01:47 PM

when you have your turn signal on? Its called a flasher...

skeeter 02-11-2007 02:07 PM

Your Jeep has crabs and those are the claws snapping together in anticipation...

Scooby 02-11-2007 02:21 PM

The turn signal is not on when this happens, and Iam pretty sure that it is not crabs, or anything else living under there!

Can you give us some more info on this clicking? When does it happen? How loud is it? Does it sound like something hitting or rattling or what?

rich1014 02-11-2007 02:40 PM

Your heater/AC fan is under there. Maybe you have the impeller hitting on something.

Scooby, have you gotten anywhere with this problem? I have the same problem and it is driving me nuts. Sounds like two pieces of metal hitting together at random. Straight on the road with no bumps I hear nothing. As soon as I start hitting rough surfaces the clicking noise starts.

jherrin215 03-27-2008 09:00 AM

I have the same thing, I always figured it was something stupid laying in there that i just couldn't track down, but I actually cleaned it out the other day and found nothing!!

Do you guys have a cd in the factory cd player by chance? If so try removing it see if it goes away.

No, nothing new to report, it is still there. Mine has nothing to do with bumps, I can hear it at a idle. To me it is almost like something is cycling, or kicking on and off. Maybe it has something to do with the defroster, or the a/c depending on the season. Scooby

a/c compressor could be noisey, but it is only cycling w/ defrost on, or a/c on. you can look at it and see if it is cycling.

Personal massage device?

Vector6 03-27-2008 11:19 AM

Smeghead 03-27-2008 03:23 PM

Sometimes does it click like 50 times in 5 seconds like drdrdrdrdrrdrdrdrdrrdrdrdrrdrdrd coz mine does that.
When I turn the wheel and hold it at a certain point sometimes it does that ^

I believe there are 2 relays behind the glove compartment. Is one of these relays maybe picking up and closing?

I agree. This sounds like a classic relay problem. Have you checked to see if you have any blown fuses? Is there anything on your heep that doesn't work? Finding out which relay is clicking is easy. You'll be able to feel it by just putting your hand on it.

I like this idea the best.....

I have the exact same problem as "Sandman". I just bought the truck and the problem started a week after. It looks like is something loose somewhere.

2much 03-30-2008 08:43 PM

I have a similiar, possible the same problem, mine seems as if it is related to rpm's though, there is no pattern as to when I hear it, and when I don't, but I can normallyh make it go away by upshifting, my jeep has done this since I bought it, I just figured it was jeep thing.

tobycat1 03-30-2008 10:19 PM

Sounds to me like you guys all have melted plastic coating on 2 wires that touch now and then. That would explain it if they are random clicks.

NY94YJ 04-17-2008 05:47 PM

Seems to be related to HVAC, I get this "Click Click..........click Click..." ONLY when Heat or AC is on........kinda sounds like an oven when it's Pre-Heating.

I need to replace the resistor (fan only works on 3,4) and was hoping that would take care of the click.......but this thread makes me think otherwise.
