Just saw this on FB

So glad I got a 2010... That "wannachrome" middle bumper area and the color matched flares are just hideous - not to mention the interior...

And matching hard top, WTF! :banghead:

popstop785 08-19-2010 09:46 AM

I am waiting until you catch your own mistake as you blindly bashed something that is NOT new to the 2011 model. Research before you go half cocked. ;)

Edit: Screw it, I'll help you out. http://www.ridelust.com/2009-jeep-wr...e-value-award/ <--- check the front bumper on this 09 model... which pre-dates your 2010 model. You bashed something that has already been around for close to 4 years. Awesome! :P

jayc 08-19-2010 09:48 AM

Just looked at all of them, with the insides looking like that it's just another SUV now with a Jeep name.

silvrevo 08-19-2010 09:49 AM

Nice Find!
I like the mono tone roof

And the 4 door looks like a G Wagon.

Also the inside is very nice. Leather,,, really?

Wait till the Pentastar gets dropped in this baby!!!!!!!!!

290hp and this big of transformation,,,New Ball Game.

jayc 08-19-2010 09:50 AM

Wow popstop didnt mean to push your button, you must own one of the ugly matching hardtops. Sorry that you do or that you like them. And before you went off half cocked I wasnt bashing 2011 specifically, just the top, so no mistake and no research required

haden1128 08-19-2010 09:52 AM

My Favorite part of the new 2011...
YELLOW IS BACK!!!!

Officially Official: Updated 2011 Jee...dash; Autoblog

The new Sahara Tan color isn't too bad either...kinda takes the priss off the new painted top.

scottwmckenna 08-19-2010 09:52 AM

I saw the post this morning on facebook as well. I must say the interior, I can live with, it looks classy, but still pretty cool. However, I can't stand the matching color tops, it reminds me of those ugly mercedes suv's that are out. I don't like it at all!

Oh no, not you. It was to the OP. When I hit reply, your post wasn't there yet.
Sorry about that, dude.

From the pics, it seems to me that that matching hard top seems to be on the Sahara model only. The matching on them in previous models is why I didn't get one before. I hate matching colors. Looks to... plain.
I happily own a 09 Unlimited silver X with a sexy black top. :P

larry53 08-19-2010 09:55 AM

OK, I'll be the first odd man out here. I think they look GREAT!!:D Especially the interior :punk: I do like the black fenders better then the painted ones, but that seems to be an option.

gdub 08-19-2010 09:55 AM

Hey PopStop - I realize the "wannachrome" was out prior - didn't like it then either - even more reason for my "thank god I got a 2010 statement" - I would of thought Jeep / Chrysler would of learned from the past - not too many people that I know like that look on the Wrangler - but to each his own...

haden1128 08-19-2010 09:56 AM

Thankfully, the color match hard top is only intended for the Sahara. Which, no offense anyone, the Sahara is supposed to be "the street" Jeep. --Painted flares, 18in. wheels...

QtMcShorty 08-19-2010 09:58 AM

Yes, saw this on FB as well this morning!
The matching hardtop thing reminds me of how the FJ Cruisers ALL had the black tops at first and then they came out with the matching top....in that same yellowish-beige.....ah well....Jeep is just trying to keep up with the times.....

popstop785 08-19-2010 09:59 AM

What bothers me is that the album title says "The New 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited" and yet they focus all the attention on the Sahara model. Inside and out. I want to see more of that yellow Ruby... just me though. :P

No prob thought you were referring to my post. :D
I just get agree with what they're turning Jeeps into. And yes I understand that they need to change and open the market up to new groups of people to stay in business and to expand. But I just hate the thought of the Wrangler being turned into just another SUV. Thats what they make the liberty, cherokee, and commanders for.

Well you are complaining about something that more than likely has already been posted on this forum, a few years ago. Everyone is already over it... which you would know because every time a person pops in here saying "I just bought a new Sahara!" Everyone gives the dude/dudette congrats.

And the inside is not to different from the 2010 models from what I can see. Just saying. The top on the Sahara is the only thing I really find all that different... aside from the mentioned wheels.

JIMBOX 08-19-2010 10:14 AM

:D Heh Heh, I just hope they keep the "Detonator yellow" for years to come !!

Maybe by 2013 they'll change the eng/tranny ??

:rofl::rofl: JIMBO

Not going to start a bash fest - but here's just some of the differences I see in just a cursory review of the interior shots...

- Full covered doors - take a look at the beige/black combo
- Brushed aluminum trim
- Curved Door pulls - look like something from a caravan
- Leather - that will smell great when it gets soaked by a nice downpour (think leather shoes)
- Chrome shift knobs
- Steering wheel volume / cruise control (I like the cruise I have on the side - as for volume control - when in a grip of death on a steep incline - don't think I want to be turning the radio up full blast)
- What looks to be "car/van like" door lock / handles - at least the current actually look somewhat rugged

I realize the "layout" is similiar, but all the bling bling is like the interior won a $500 shopping spree at AutoZone or something (or should that be $50 as it looks sort of cheap).

I agree... the Wranglers are getting... prissy or something. Look at it this way, the more prissy they get shouldn't the value of the old school Jeeps rise or at least stay pretty steady? Demand for what was, instead of what is?

I already made a personal oath I will never get rid of my 09 for any jeep new wrangler. I want something I can beat up and not feel guilty... I would feel odd if I had a matching top and scratched it... I shouldn't feel anything but proud for scratching my Jeep. I like that fact that washing my jeep consists of driving through a flood puddle or creek. Or simply shooting it with a hose ha ha. That is just me though.

s_wall98 08-19-2010 10:20 AM

I don't really see what the big deal is with the interior. if I'm gonna be paying around 30k for a vehicle it should have a nice interior, jeep or no jeep.
I don't know about the exterior though.

I've always loved the yellow. Would have got one myself if they had one at the lot last year. :(
I'm afraid to see what they might do to the engine if they change it again...

But the interior shots seem to be only of the Sahara, which is notorious for being the "upper class" Wrangler. Don't think anyone will be forced with leather or all the little "button" options if they don't want it and get a standard Wrangler. I believe Jeep is showing the most luxury class Wrangler possible in those pics.

I'll wait until I see the inside of a 2011 X or Ruby before I make my complete opinion. I simply don't have enough information at this point. I won't buy one... but I can't completely like or hate what I don't know yet.

Thats just it, you should'nt be paying 30k for a Jeep Wrangler. Now the Cherokee SRT8 yes, better have GREAT looking interior. But who's going to pay 30K for a WRANGLER?

JIMBOX 08-19-2010 10:35 AM

:D Yea, after the "Pentastar" engine, I imagine they'll leave that for awhile, making service additions/subtractions and probably a stock turbo addition--

I don't really care about that, just put in a good 5spd auto and redesign the tranny cooling system !!

I whole-heartedly agree. 30k is a lot of cash to shell out.

ddbowdoin 08-19-2010 11:07 AM

HMM matching top... looks like a dodge nitro

Unless you're seeing something that I'm not, you're getting a decent if not good deal at 30k for a loaded unlimited rubicon.
What I'm trying to say is that whether its a jeep or not, a 25-30k vehicle should have a nice interior.
Nice or not doesn't really matter to me, I plan on driving my 2010 till the wheels fall off!

You haven't been out much lately have you? A SRT8 is more in the 40+ range.
