Here we go again, my 93 yj 2.5/ax-5 has decided to take another round of nickle and diming me again.
I have had no mechanical problems, but this morning as I walked into work, I looked back at my jeep to notice a hose hanging down from somewhere. it is about 1/2 in diameter with an opening of about 1/4 inch.
If you are facing toward the rear of the jeep looking under the hood, the hose goes back beside the transmission somewhere on the left side. where it was hanging down was next to the leaf spring, under the battery tray.
I haev not seen a change in MPG, performance, or ability to use 4 wheel drive.
Any clues to what this hose is and where it should be attached?

A photo would help. There is a plethora of hoses in a veritable spaghetti bowl. You didn't indicate that there was any fluid leakage so it is probably a vacuum hose of sorts. Was it a 1/4" internal? That is pretty sizable so there should be a large connector with nothing to connect to it somewhere near by.

a pic would help....off the top of my head, that sounds like the size of the axle vent tube.

A vent hose is on the top of my list. I will try and get some pics posted this evening or tomorrow

thats the money drain hose...
it's routed up inside the tub, thru the firewall and is supposed to be inserted into your wallet as you drive, so it can suck all the money you may have in there out.

Look near your air cleaner box, if it matches that hose it is your rear axle vent tube:)

There is a hose that comes off the vacuum switch on the transfer case that is just a vent hose. It would be blue on color, but it might be hard to tell that it is blue. Just a possibility...

It's likely the t-case vent line. Look for the brass fitting on the top left of the t-case, above the shifter area.
