install a new CD player

I ran into a few problems while trying to install a new CD player in my 99 Wrangler Sahara, and now none of my gauges or the CD player will work. I went through and checked my fuses and all of them appear to be good. If you have any ideas of why this happened or how to fix it the added insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm... you sure everything was wired correctly when hooking up the new unit? Might have crossed some wires somewhere. That'd be my only guess.. unless you pulled too tight and something came loose.

try installing the factory unit and see if everything works, if not than something may have become loose. where did you ground the new unit? an improper ground could cause problems. check all of your fuses too

If theres a bracket that held the old radio you can grounbd it on that:) . Also on my 03 the wiring harness was NOT blue to blue

but rather

blue to blue w/white stripe

no i never cut anything i bought an adapter kit so the ground problem shouldn't have happened either.

if your gauges and cd playerare not working, then Im guessing like you said youve got it hooked up right but somewhere along the lines something happened like a fuse blown or something, Im not sure if this can be caused if you dont ground it first or not

i just went and checked all fuses and all of them are good but i did end up finding a remote starter and have no idea if that affect it or not
