Wait for Pentastar??

Assuming that the new Pentastar engine will be made available in the 2012 Wrangler, should I wait till then to buy one?? I know it's new but has anyone heard any feedback on it's performance? I know it has more horsepower and torque but how much torque in the lower end? Any feedback/opinions would be appreciated. Thanks again.

yes. unless you can't wait, then no.
it is supposed to make more power everywhere than even the 4.0 did.
it's your decision, don't let us make it for you. i don't need a 290hp jeep, i figure it's easier to stay out of trouble with 202. i bought my 2010 about a month ago.

Silvrevo? Is that you?

Ur gooood Tom.

i don't know if I'd be waiting, are they using the Pentastar engine on something else? I hate buying anything first production because all the problems haven't been shaken out, if they ever are. I think I'd wait and see what other people think, what problems arise, etc. JMO though.

Ok i get the excitement I do, but IMO, I would never buy the first year with a new engine. You know there are going to be plenty of bugs they need to work out. At least wait till year 2 when they have some of them fixed. Just my two cents though.

Its already out in the GC.

I would wait... The vehicle is way under powered as it is now.. Try pulling a trailer or as my friend found out after putting 35"s on his.

It'll go into the new Dodge charger police vehicles also. THAT's the one I'd like to have in a Jeep.

Did he re-gear after putting on 35's?

UnlimitedLJ04 08-26-2010 04:28 PM

i want to see a diesel in a Wrangler

I know it's slated to go in the challenger SE as well. Should be a nice little motor that will still suffer from the throttle by wire and lousy factory shift points just like the 3.8. The increased power will be nice in the hills. We just bought our 2010 rubicon and we are already planning on buying another. We will be waiting until the new motor shows up.

Not yet but he is planning to in the next month... He's undecided between 4:88's or 5:13's

There you have it. It's not underpowered, it's improperly geared.
