Finally pics of new fenders.

Not sure which I like better. The new Pocket Fenders make the Jeep "Beefier". Opinions?

They both look pretty awesome, :thumb:
...but if I had to pick, I'd say the pocket flares because they offer more protection, and I don't see them as often around here.

I'd want to keep both though. Change things up every now and then, just 'cause I could.

Pretty sweet rig!

Rusty Pancelode 03-17-2014 03:10 PM

Nice!
It does look good both ways, but I like the flat fenders more.
...But then again, I've always had a thing for Meyers Manx dune buggies too, so that might be part of it.
:)

Although both look good, my pref would be your original flats.

Flats for the win

kswerks 03-17-2014 03:41 PM

Honestly I like the flat style better.

AverageJK 03-17-2014 03:42 PM

Pocket flares look horrible on a jk.

nekojku 03-17-2014 03:44 PM

Cool!

Moonrider 03-17-2014 04:16 PM

I like flat style more.

Flats

pbujkurdu 03-17-2014 04:22 PM

I like both fender styles on your jeep, though leaning more to the flats.

BigDawg226 03-17-2014 04:36 PM

I have to ask, is your whole jeep plasti-dipped? It looks really good!

n3tfury 03-17-2014 04:54 PM

If the pockets make it look beefier, that means you need bigger tires.

Billy Baldone 03-17-2014 04:57 PM

Flats...

Looks like a Starwood so it'd be Kevlar dipped.

Dragonscape 03-17-2014 06:28 PM

Both versions need "Beefier" tires
Run flats on alternating weeks
Both look good with that set-up

"horrible" seems a bit dramatic. The Pocket flares look good, a very strong/aggressive look. It looks like a SWAT vehicle or something along those lines.

Annhl8rX 03-17-2014 06:54 PM

I prefer the pocket flares.

WebDevDan 03-17-2014 06:59 PM

Leaning toward the flats. When the time comes, I'm going for the in-between... Rugged Ridge's hurricane flares. Flat flares with pockets.

tomgillotti 03-17-2014 07:04 PM

Kevlar paint!?!? Sounds awesome..... care to share the details of that!?

Google Starwood autos in Dallas. They do custom rigs with everything Smittybuilt makes bolted to 'em and paint them with a supposedly Kevlar-based bedliner. They sell a bunch of them around DFW. I'm sure there are other places that can do the same coating for you.

leemastergt 03-18-2014 04:10 AM

Has Starwood worked out the issues they had with the bedliner fading? I saw pictures of a few that were around a year old that needed a completely new paint job. That was a year+ ago though.

SHADYDC 03-18-2014 05:32 AM

definately the flats

gocubs01 03-18-2014 08:06 AM

Flats

UgaTyler 03-18-2014 08:21 AM

Flatties for sure. Pocket flares look much better on a TJ.

rgnbull1227 03-18-2014 08:47 AM

I know guys love to talk about this being just simple bedliner. You should look into what is done and how this is applied before calling it "Bedliner".
FYI, they do other products other than Smitty. They are currently spec'ing another Wrangler for myself(this blue one was a bday present for my wife) My jeep is going to be based on a Rubicon with either Rock Krawler, Metal Cloak, Currie or AEV. They will do what I want. As far as fading, took delivery of Jeep in July and looks as good today as the day it was delivered. They guarantee it for life so im not too worried. The Jeeps they build for "production" are for the person who just wants to buy a jeep already done and ready to go that look good and purpose built for light offroading(My Wife). If she is happy with what is on the car, then im happy.

hypoxic1911 03-18-2014 08:59 AM

what's your specs?

rgnbull1227: what is your lift amount and tire size? I like the look of the flats.

rgnbull1227 03-18-2014 09:00 AM

4" with 35x12.5x17

I don't typically like the pocket style but in this case I do. I think they look better with the front bumper than the flat. Plus they offer great protection which is nice.
