Disintegrated Teraflex spacers

The grocery getter XJ must've hit one city titty too many and obliterated the spacers. Seriously, this thing has never been offroad. Teraflex is sending out a new set, but will this happen in another 2 yrs.??

Personally, I gave up on Tera stuff years ago after too much of their stuff stopped holding up. I was one of Tera's early adopters and ran a lot of their stuff but no more...

This shows my TJ maybe ten years ago flying the Teraflex windshield sticker. How things have changed with Tera since then... at least in my personal opinion. :)

Hi Jerry,

I remember you from RAMJAW. Also, remember the battle you used to have...Teraflex vs RE, with Harry. LOL... Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed with the performance of those. What if I'd actually wheeled the XJ? They would not have lasted the weekend. Teraflex is sending out some more. This time I'll install them with the factory rubber pieces and hope that helps. It's harder to find 2" lift springs for the XJ anymore.

Jerry Bransford 08-25-2010 11:59 PM

Hah, Harry B... I will never forget him and our "discussions" LOL!

Yep RAMJ+W, that was a cool group. Too bad Bill had to go and ruin that newsgroup.

BajaTJ 08-26-2010 12:14 AM

Yep, he did ruin it. As far as I know, it's still a disaster. Too many good forums to waste time there now. Not sure where the good folks from there ended up. Still Jeep'n I hope. I still have a RAMJAW hat around somewhere. :)

Now THAT I wish I still had. I still have my old ramj+w t-shirt but some ***wipe stole my hat out of my TJ. I LOVED that hat too, it was my favorite Jeepin' hat.

Judging by your sig, someone stole Geezer?? What's the story on that? That really sucks. Still have a TJ? Back in the day, I was running a 99 Sahara with the Teraflex S4T and BFG ATs. When the Rubi's came out at the end of 2002, I ordered one, put an RE 4.5 on it with some GY MT/Rs. Still have it. Plan on keeping it til I'm a Geezer.

UPDATE FROM TERAFLEX....They say they have sent out another set. They say the reason the spacers came apart was because I did not use the factory rubber spacers in conjunction with their spacers (even tho their instructions say you can do either/or). They say the fact. rubber spacers have a thin metal plate in them that helps distribute the impact energy from the coils into their spacer. Hmmm. Have to see if I can find my old factory ones and see if there is metal in there.

Anyone else had this issue?

I can't say if it is a Teraflex problem or not but there was a recent thread on JF about a Tera space problem. Not in the picture, the spring coil does not look correct.

Coil Spring Spacer problem.. need help - JeepForum.com

Yep, the '97 TJ I bought back in '96 was stolen from my office parking lot this past March, in San Diego. I bought a used '04 Rubicon from a friend to replace it but I would still rather have my '97.

Teraflex came thru with the spacers. They showed up today. Not bad. Now I just have to summon up the energy to dismantle the front end again...bleh. Right in the middle of a Early Bronco restoration and wrenched out.
