Anyone in north idaho?

Alright so I'm pretty new to Idaho and this site. I've had my jeep about 5 or 6 months and I'm in love with it. I'm almost certain I will never own another vehicle and never get rid of my jeep. Is there anyone here from northern Idaho? I live in coeur d Alene. It would be nice to find some places to play :)

That's awesome. I've been looking for some people to maybe go out with since I'm new around here.

skeeter 09-01-2010 09:21 AM

We haven't had time to get out this year, we're in the middle of redoing our house but I'd like to make some time before the snow flies.

We've got a little offroad park over here in Spokane that's good for getting the hang of things. You've got some awesome trails over around Wallace Idaho. We like to go north of here and explore old forest service roads.

I haven't been anywhere besides fernan rd. Just a long windy service road with random trails and stuff. Kinda fun to explore.

Go north thru Sandpoint on 95. Go about 10 miles and turn left on Pack River road and see some of Idaho's real beauty. Then take Hwy 200 east. Go to Trestle Creek and take a left to Lunch peak. Then on another day go to Roman Nose. My favorite place on earth

I drive this. I think its the only one around with the Unlimited stickers. Dont come to CDA much but was there yesterday.

I love cda it's a nice place. Took the jeep out yesterday with a friend. Too dry so no mud :P it was fun exploring new places and taking random trails. Saw a moose too. Holy crap haha. I've been to sandpoint once. Just walked around downtown while my uncle golfed. It's pretty there.

I drive a 91 blue wrangler. Nothin fancy but I love it.

OK there is mud now. I went bear hunting yesterday and sorta tried out my jeep. Ended up playing more in the mud than hunting. I di see around 20 mulies but no bears.

That's awesome. I wanna go play in the mud :) and go hunting too! Damn work! Doesn't allow me to have a social life lol or go out and play. Hmm. Maybe I'll find time tomorrow.

Just joined up, I technically don't own a jeep. It is my wifes jeep, I am just the mechanic. Then again is is a community property state.

:wavey: from another Spokane resident. I'd be up for a jaunt around the ORV park one of these weekends.

you can get a permit to go onto the Inland-Empire Paper Company land, theres lots of logging roads up there. its very scenic. theres some trails that are more rough. you can purchase a permit at any gas station in Rathdrum, ID i believe. although it would be close to pointless because they close it down in the winter season i think.

Heading to Coolin one of these weekends...any great trails there?

YJ Jeep Freak 08-21-2011 08:35 AM

Sundance Mt. Fire lookout tower

Went to the fire lookout tower on top of Sundance Mt. a couple years ago. It was a cool trail. Especially if the clouds are covering the mountain, looked really eery when we were last there. Also warning, if you see dark clouds moving in, I would high tail it back down. We had just reached the top when we saw dark clouds coming with lightening strikes. It started to pour and wash out trail. You dont want to go up there if your brakes are questionable. They get a work out coming down even using low range. We dont know what happened to the mountain biker that flew past us, but I dont know if the scared look on his face was from going down hill that fast or if it was the lightening strikes and ear deafening thunder. The weather has been awesome up there lately, so have a great trip.:wavey:

JeepinDad 04-13-2012 05:24 PM

I really want to go but I'm working that night. I might be able to make it for a little bit though.

Kraut2 04-18-2014 05:29 AM

I like Ted D's directions in post #8. I lived outside of Sandpoint in the 1970's and 80's. Lots of good logging trails in the Selkirks.

97TJStinger 07-27-2014 12:03 PM

I know the thread is pretty dead but I know the silver valley like the back of my hand lived there since I was born and moved away when I was 20 drove all over those hills... One of my favorite trail is up to lake Elsie, and CC ridge... Lots and lists of trails out there and a lot of challenging places up there... Lake Elsie also has a ridge called cometary ridge which is fun...
