Interlake - Sunday 29 AUG 10

Planning on meeting at the South staging area around 10am and plan to spend the day just exploring the trails and having fun. Who's available to join us?

Ageless Stranger 08-27-2010 12:25 AM

Trey, I don't think I'll be able to make it but I might. Let me do some checking. Also, where is it? Is there a website with some info and an address?

I really want to make this trip. Is it still free admission? Anything else I need to know?

TR3YNGLER 08-27-2010 03:22 AM

Yes, absolutely free. No registration or anything like that is needed for your street-legal Jeep. The trail maps I posted above are good reference but aren't necessarily completely accurate. :)

There are no toilet facilities other than what the good Lord has provided in nature. There's a gas station/convenience store about a mile up the road from the entrance and a car wash too if you feel the need to clean up a bit before heading back.

We will be bringing a cooler for drinks and a insulated bag for sandwiches and stuff so that we can have some lunch out on the trail. Sunscreen and bug spray are good things to have. Then, of course, your normal trail gear for your rig. My friend Jason has loaned us his hand-held CB radio and he has one installed in his Jeep. I think you have one too, if I remember correctly. I think we're usually on channel 4 up there.

There's lots of variety in the trails. There's something for everyone, that's for sure.

FYI, if you click on those map links and then send them to an email address you can get on your iPhone, you can click on the "+" icon and open them in iBooks and store them on your shelf so that you have a nice, zoomable version of the maps readily available on your phone when you need them. I just did it on my phone and will welcome the use of them on Sunday. The paper print out could stand to be bigger. With these loaded into iBooks, I can zoom in and get clear visuals of the trail numbers and such.

Ageless Stranger 08-27-2010 03:56 AM

Yep, I've got a handheld, and I'll bring some tools and stuff, along with my cooler and lunch. (Assuming I'll be able to make it.) :fingerscrossed:

Sweet. :punk: The gate keeper at TB gave me a huge map like the one you print out online and it has the numbers on it, where the one you print off dosen't so I know what you mean.

From Evansville or Terre Haute
Take HWY 41 to Interstate 64 Exit 25
Go east on I- 64 to Lynnville (SR 61) Exit 39
Turn left (north) on State Road 61
To the first 4-way stop (Intersection of State Road 61 & 68)
Turn right (east) on to State Road 68
Travel approximately 3.2 miles east. The entrance is on the north side of the road. If you past the area on the north side of road that is a large equipment training area you just went by the entrance to Interlake. It is currently marked with a green reclamation project sign and Interlake rule signs on both sides of the entrance.

Here's a shot of the intersection in Lynnville right after you exit or cross over I-64. You want to turn right (East) at this intersection onto Hwy 68.

About 3.2 miles down Hwy 68, you'll come to the gravel road South entrance to Interlake. There's not much in the way of signage so keep your eyes peeled.

Just follow the gravel road up and around and you'll eventually come to a wider part of the road where folks do their unloading or airing down of tires if they choose. That's where we'll meet up.
