TJ Rocks side to side when first started!

So I stared my TJ about a month after the engine was replaced and it starts to rock side to side and it sounds like the engine is struggling and then mellows out in about 5-8 seconds. What could this be? Are the engine mounts loose? I also have a code for a small EVAP leak. Is it a vacuum hose issue? I have a 3 year 100k mile parts/labor warranty but I'm tired of having other people work on my Jeep and never know what the hell they do to it! Any help on this issue woul be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like motor mounts possibly and on the evap code try replacing the gas cap:wavey:

X2, or just check that the gas cap is simply on securely. A loose gas cap can even cause an evap code. :)

Hmm, the gas cap is new. One other clue is a slight gas smell coming through my vent only on start up. After a minute its gone. For about a week though the gas smell was gone and the engine was not rocking. Could an EVAP leak cause this? Also where could I get replacement hoses?

If that new gas cap has a key lock on it, try replacing it with the OE non-locking gas gap. Locking gas caps are notorious for leaking air which will trigger an evap leak error code.

It's just a general OEM gas cap with a good seal. The gas smell is coming from the engine bay and I get a high pitched whining noise when I hit the gas and it goes away when I coast. Is this consistent with an EVAP leak?
