Assateague

I was discussing this over dinner last night with my wife's cousin. They have a Jeep OTW (other than Wrangler) and were thinking about making a visit. I have seen some official-looking web sites, have some questions.
1. It looks like there is a MD State Park and a US National Park at Assateague. What is the difference between the two parks - do both parks have over the sand access, or is this just at the National Park? Also, just sand access, or how close can you get to the ocean?
2. It looks like the National park charges an entrance fee of either $15/7-days or $30/annual, and an additional $90 OHV permit for sand access. Is this information current?
3. What maintenance do you need to do after driving on a beach (fluids, etc.)?

I know there are other requirements (equipment - tow hooks, shovel, jack and jack base suitable for sand use, etc.).

Just the US National Park. You can drive right in the ocean if you wanted to.

That is accurate. The $90 is for an annual daytime pass good from 5AM to 10PM. A night pass is $110. If you want to sleep, you must have a self contained camper and purchase and additional Bullpen pass for $150.

You should give it a good washing afterward including the undercarriage. Be sure to air down to at least 15lbs. Deflaters will save a ton of time. The are air pumps available, but I use my own compressor.
