Yet another newcomer to the wonderful world of Jeeps. I recently purchased a 1987 YJ with what I assume is a 4.2L inline six. It has a major oil leak coming from the rear of the valve cover. Upon attempting to replace the gasket I noticed that the stock steel valve cover with (2) breather holes was in very bad shape and needed to be replaced. Now the hard part, why am I having so much trouble finding a replacement aftermarket valve cover for this Jeep? I have found two so far online, one from 4WD.com that says itís for a 1987 but it is completely different that my stock valve cover. For a lack of a technical description my stock valve cover has indentations on both sides of it where the head bolts are. The Omix-Ada replacement I got in the mail has one side that has indentations and the other side is completely straight. I have only seen one other "1987" replacement online and the cost is about $250. Whatís the deal here? Is this just an odd-ball year and no one makes an aftermarket valve cover? All of the websites seem to have various options for other years but not much for the '87.
