Half door sliders or Full steel doors

1 Attachment(s)
I would like to get a hardtop eventually. I saw a guy on craigslist getting rid of his full steel doors for $600. I would have to paint them but they look in pretty good shape.

I also saw these half door sliders online. They are a couple hundred bucks cheaper.

I'd like to get your opinion on what you think would be better. I was thinking the half doors would be nice to keep for the summer so the sliders would work better.

I was also thinking the sliders would look strange on a hardtop. Any imput and/or pictures would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well I have the half doors and i love them. They are great for warm wheather and they make it so you dont feel like you need to go doorless all the time. But I dont have a hardtop so i cant really comment there. Good luck!

I currently have half doors with the zipper windows. I thought I could use the slider top with the hard top and soft top. I'm just not sure how the slider half top would look with a hard top.

I too wouldnt mind the slider for mine. However i think just the drivers side would be all i need for winter. Do they fit on the same frame?
Beings my first winter I wonder how the zipper plastic windows are?

On 4wd.com they sell the slider tops in pairs for $400. Apparently, they just fit onto your half door the same way your zipper top did. The zipper tops just make it more difficult to hit up the drive thru windows:zap: My heater blows hot so winter wasn't a problem as far as the cab being cold.

My main reason for wanting a hard top was for wind noise. Since my top stayed on all winter I might as well throw on a hard top and have a conversation with the person in the back seat.

Roger I posted in your slider thread.... :) I did zippers last year for my first winter and didn't have a problem at all. I do claim the garage now (thanks plastic windows... :)) But when it was parked outside and it snowed, it wasn't a problem at all.

Sliders look ok with a hard top, I've seen pics floating around cyberspace somewhere.... :)

I went ahead and got a pair with sliders for my 1/2 doors and soft top. I'll Give them a shot this winter as my jeep will be living outside. I'll put one of my trucks inside my home garage with my Capri convertable. The Bronco and X-90 will keep it company.

Both. keep looking for full doors ,I just picked up a set for a 100 bucks. They do need paint, but thats what I do. still looking for sliders also. I just want every option. I dont even own a full hard top yet. I keep missing out on the cheap ones.CL is the place to find great deals Just got to move fast on the items

The upper door sliders in the pic above will not fit a hard top for a yj. They have to be the round cornered type, these sliders in the pic are for a factory soft top. If you want the sliders to work in a hard top, you need a super top upper slider. The super top is like the TJ top, with a curved corner, not sqared. I have the sliders on my soft top with factory hardware

Here is the slider you would need with the hardtop...http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Imag...1/35841-md.jpg

That is way too much for hard doors
keep looking

:include:
Tarby is 100% correct: make sure your upper doors will match your hardtop.

That's a YJ only issue.

I just recently cut up a set of bestop soft uppers and rebent and welded the frame to fit my hardtop. Worked like a charm... Now i can run my half doors all year long and not spend a fortune on hard uppers.......Why? because i'm an idiot and sold my full steel doors

Full steel doors, I like my rolling manual full windows.....I have a hardtop and softop. Just got my mirror relocation brackets and love saving 110 lbs each time the weather is nice and can drive without the doors on. Plus i'm lazy and don't like having to open up a door handle to get in. But hey, that's just me, keep checking craig's list! Good luck!
