Need help with shock bushing orientation
 
I'm installing my Rubicon Express 3.5" standard lift. The instructions are lacking in some areas. I was hoping someone could help me confirm the orientation of the front shock bushings. I put the washer on the top of the shock with the washer cup facing up. Then I put the bushing on with the "nipple" up. Then inserted the shock into the shock tower hole. And put the next bushing on top with the nipple down. And the other washer with the cup down, then the nut. Is this all correct?

I believe it goes washer cup down, bushing nipple up, insert into shock tower, bushing nipple down, washer cup up, then thread on nut. You would think the cups go the other way but they don't.

Go to the AEV website and download the 2.5 lift instructions (#10 picture B) They show how to do it on the Bilsteins, your shocks sound similar.

Yep washer "down" -bushing -mount -bushing -washer "up" - nut. Torque just enough to squeeze the bushing.

Cupping the bushings like we think doesn't allow enough thread for the nut.
Another option ... And like I've done with my 5100's... Using the stock bushings. They're just easier to work with.

This was the info I needed. Thank you. The stock shocks have a nut on the dust cover to hold while turning the top nut. The Rubicon Express/Bilstein shocks have an Allen key hole on the top but no clearance above to insert. That was the biggest pain of the whole installation. I got the washer cups facing the wrong way but I don't think it's going to hurt. I have to get in there again soon to work on some other things so I will see if it's worth flipping them.
