I'll take some more pics tomorrow when its light outside of what I've done so far along with pics of the 350 and 700r4 I picked up for it and I'll be installing some reverse lights tomorrow

cliffhanger486 09-01-2010 08:25 PM

good stuff man. I'm trying to get my pictures of a bunch of stuff today, but my phone is not cooperating. I got a lot done today. I'd love to see your 350. Oh dude, I made my glovebox into a locking one, it's a pretty cool project, takes about an hour and costs like 7 bucks. i'll put it up when my pictures come through.

The 350 isnt pretty or anything but its a chevy 350 that was purring like a lion before we took it out of the 87 suburban I dont know if I want to make it look good and dress it up or just throw it in the jeep and run it yet. And I would love to see how you made your glovebox into a locking one that would be pretty handy.

cliffhanger486 09-01-2010 10:12 PM

yeah man just waiting for the pictures to come in. I made it up, and it came out pretty good. They glovebox was messed up already, broken off it's holding bracket, and I figured I might as well toy with it.

Ayo 09-01-2010 10:46 PM

Oh so you did paint it today. Looks good man. And i love how my jeep is in the backround of your pics haha i was like wait thats my house. Did you paint the gax tank skid plate too?

uplifted 09-01-2010 10:51 PM

Jeeps looking good bro... Nice work..

yjkid95 09-02-2010 11:06 AM

Thanks guys I did end up doing the gas tank skid, the shackles, and the rear of the frame. I'll end up redoing the rear of the frame when I pick up some POR-15 for the frame.

mjackson681 09-02-2010 08:52 PM

Nice paint job. Excuse me, I'm still a newb, but what is the part you painted called exactly? Mine is behind my bumper and starting to rust a little. I was just wondering if I could do anything about it and it looks like your thread has enlightened me.
Thanks!

yjkid95 09-02-2010 08:53 PM

Well to me its always been my bumper it used to have these little hoops on it but I took those off. I know its behind the tjs bumper.

cliffhanger486 09-02-2010 09:49 PM

I got my new projects up man. take a look. I like your round taillights too, sweet.

yjkid95 09-02-2010 10:44 PM

Thanks man and I took a look at that already thats a sweet idea. I'd probably paint the lock black though just to make it look like it came with it from the factory. By the way the tail lights are a cheap mod cost me 35 bucks for the parts. Taillights, Grommet fittings, Three prong plugs. The 4.5 inch holesaw was expensive though at 46 bucks.

yjkid95 09-06-2010 12:23 PM

I got some more pics of some goodies I picked up for the jeep!

The chevy 350 and 700r4 tranny

Thanks man I opted not to get the led ones but to go incandesant. I think its a little more oldschool and I didnt have to worry about the flasher relay either. The parts are cheap its the 4.5 inch holesaw that was expensive and the worst part is im probably never going to use it again.

Yea man it was good meeting you too, I'm going to try to order that adapting plate by the end of the month and I found a machine shop that could help me out with the driveshaft. If you decide to do the tail lights let me know i got a quick and easy way to make them even and not lopsided.

I'm obsessed with my YJ so I know how you feel man. I was gone for the weekend and wouldnt stop talking about my jeep. I was offered 4 grand once I paid 2900 but I couldnt part with it.

yjkid95 09-06-2010 09:58 PM

Thought I'd post a picture of the tail lights lit up for those of you who are considering this mod. They're pretty bright considering they're incandesant.

Bignuke 09-09-2010 08:19 PM

Hmm, nice tail lights, but what do you use for the reverse lights? I don't know if it's the law or not, just wondering..
