AshtangiJeeper 09-03-2010 08:14 AM

Really good looking rig!

The Budd 09-03-2010 08:36 AM

Take it all off!

levimcvay 09-03-2010 08:39 AM

Where did you get your mirrors? I have an 08' Sahara and I took my doors off only to realize I lacked mirrors...

phantomofrussia 09-03-2010 08:44 AM

Hi, I bought the Lange Originals Quick Mirror I from Quadratec. Just one for the drivers side. I actually don't like it at all. Pretty cheaply made... They claim it'll fit '07 to '10 JK's but I think it's false advertising as it does NOT fit well at all. The instructions don't even mention the JK, only the CJ. I had to use duct tape and rig it up with a plastic spacer because I was absolutely certain it would just go flying right off on the highway! And I did install it correctly per the provided instructions. Anyway, I should've gotten the relocation bracket made by Rugged Ridge. Looks like a MUCH better solution and designed specifically for the JK.

ahh yes door less is the best. My favorite thing is just hoping in without having to open anything. Seems obvious but man is that fun!

Slide the plastice sleeves for the sunrider forward before lowering the top. That way the header will lay flat when you fold it down.

thefrog 09-03-2010 12:39 PM

Man... I've been wishing I could take my hard top off since I bought it last March. No one to help me lift it though. I don't have a garage or any storage space either so no hoisting capability... :( :( :(

In the same boat as you my friend. First week I bought my jk I took the back off and road around with just the front two. But since i live in arkansas, I don't get more than 2-3 days of good weather at a time, so its worthless to take that back off. I am really thinking about trading in the hard top for a nice softtop set up, or a fast back soft top.

Gate53 09-03-2010 02:50 PM

Just lay the windshield down and drive under a low branch .....FAST! Solves the storage problem too.

I don't think this one has the Sunrider Tom... The bows are solid, not hinged. :(

I love going doorless. Nothing better than 70 mph, no side view mirrors and driving on 294 south toward Chicago.

Speed2005 09-03-2010 08:54 PM

Awesome sahara! Love the color and matching fenders

Boosta 09-03-2010 11:51 PM

Thanks, I'm going to look into it some more and I'll post some photos when I'm set up.

I stabbed a soft top the other day doing exactly that. It made a horrible sound.
------------------------

Frog: I actually kinda like the look with the back of the top still on. Does it fill with air and "boom"?

I've run with the "back on" (i.e., freedom top panels and doors off) up to the White Mtns from Boston, and I have to agree that it doesn't Boom. It must be worse gas mileage that naked, but for those of us who don't have anywhere to store our tops, it's not a bad option.

dabeave92 09-08-2010 11:29 PM

Loving the pics! I got my doors off a little over a week ago for 5 days straight. Live in IA and it's been a flipping monsoon this year up here. I love walking out to it in parking lots and watching people walking slowly past it pointing and talking about it. Reason number 528 why "It's a Jeep thing", I guess...
