A few newbie soft top questions for you pros

Hello!
Being new to the Jeeping community and the Jeep wrangler lifestyle, which im finding is awesome, I have a few questions that are probably simple in the eyes of some people. Oh well, any help is appreciated. :thumb:

a) How hard/easy is it to take a soft top TOTALLY off, I see tons of pictures on here of people with there wranglers totally topless. What about rain, etc...is it really not that hard to put it totally back on? I dont mind getting wet or anything, just wondering

b) It never seems like i can get my top, when down, to be folded down enough. What am I doing wrong? it always is like sticking up above the spare tire. I am just wondering if there is a specific way to get it to stay down and out of the way.

c) are there any tops(bikini, brief style) that can go UNDER a soft top? so you can just flip it down and still have a little coverage.

Please let me know. Thanks :worthy:

c) - spider shades fit under the soft top. as you describe.

I have a Rampage top on the factory hardware. It folds up nice and easy. Putting it back on is a bit challenging. As for it laying flat, just take the time to make sure it folds on to itself. There are some you tube videos on folding it down. Seems silly but it really does help if you aren't familiar with the process. As for removing it completely, not that hard but you may want to leave the frame on. It can be tricky to get off. X2 on the spider shade. Thinking of getting one for this summer.

When I take my top off completely, I just fold it back and take the two screws out of the brackets that hold it to the roll bar on each side and pull the whole thing back. Takes only a couple minutes extra than it did to fold it back. No way in hell I'd take it off and leave the frame, that's a major PITA. I like it completely off, the only time it's just folded back is if it's just "temporarily down," like just for the ride home from work or something. Of course it has to come off when I put my bikini/tonneau combo on for the summer. The whole soft top, frame and all usually spends most of its time leaning against the wall in my garage. Don't let it get wet while it's off and folded though, it will mildew.

After I have mine down all the way I release the two plastic sleeves for the sunrider (sun roof) this lets the whole thing lay alot flatter and also lets it fit in the soft top boot better. Just remember to slide them back into place before you raise the top.
