Offroading in Dubai

Hish,

That's a really topical posting (for me). I had dinner several weeks ago with a friend now in Hong Kong who used to work for a freight forwarder in Dubai about ten years ago. First thing after taking the job he bought was a Hummer h5- no they do not allow test drives in Dubai. Promptly drove it near vertical down a 150 foot sand dune and survived- no idea what he was getting into. The stories were really interesting. He said that 125' temperatures were not out of the question and hard tops are the thing to have because otherwise theheat is unbearable. Also said that Saudi Royalty were incredibly extravagant spenders (a prince reportedly left a Ferrari in the desert when in ran out of gas).
