jeep rims and transfer cases
 
what do they have in common?

well the answer is... i don't know what i have. i bought the jeep used with a lift and 35" tires.

i sort of posted about this before but it led me to these new questions.

i'm buying winter tires for the jeep and i'm not sure what size rims i have. when measuring the rims do i just measure to the widest/tallest part? i did that and i measured 16"x10.5" just wondering if i did that right. i'm wondering if i need to buy different rims for winter tires.

also i'm not sure how tall the lift is. the dealer thought that it was a 4" lift because it sat higher than another jeep he had with a 3.5" lift. if it's 4" then it means that the transfer case should be lowered right? how can i check to see if it has been. and i should probably state that i don't even know what the transfer case should look like.

i guess what i'd love to get is whether i measured the rims right and if winter tires will fit on them (maybe a suggestion of what size i should look for?), and maybe a picture of a transfer case and what to look for to see if it's been lowered.

The first thing that you should do is post some pics of your Jeep. Get profile shots and a few suspension shots. That will help.
How did you measure your wheels? Did you remove the tires to measure?

went to a tire place and they measured for me. they are 15x10. ordered new wheels with the new tires. got them changed out this last weekend.

i still don't know if the transfer case has been adjusted. can someone share a picture of their transfer case so i know what to look at? i'm hoping i can take a picture of mine and share it so someone could tell me if mine has been adjusted. i'm having trouble with it popping out of reverse and i'm wondering if this could be why.

i did upload pictures of my suspension and the old tires. not sure what other pictures would help.

Your tires will tell you what diameter your wheels are. No need to guess.

it was the width i needed help with. i wanted to be @ 15x8 instead of 15x10.

i still could use help with the transfer case. i'm not sure where to look to tell if it has been adjusted for the lift. am i not wording this right? honestly i don't know much about mechanical stuff.

Don't worry about the transfer case. It only needs to be lowered if you have vibrations when you drive. The only purpose to lowering the t-case is to return the drive shaft angles closer to stock. If you have a 4"+ lift and you don't have bad death wobble while driving than chances are the previous owner installed a new drive shaft and slip yoke eliminator. When you get a lift that high you don't drop the t-case you install new drive shaft and slip yoke eliminator.

also it depends how you acheived your lift. Do you have 2 or 3" of body lift and 2" suspension? all suspension? etc.. take a pic of one of the body spacers and some suspension pics and we can give some more input. again though if it drives fine don't worry about the t-case.

i'm not sure how the lift was achieved, it was done by a previous owner. the dealer said it was 3.5-4" lift. he was leaning towards 4" because he said it sat higher than the other jeep on the lot with a 3.5" lift. i do have pictures uploaded showing the front and rear suspension.

the reason i was asking about the transfer case is because i'm having issues with my transmission. sometimes when i put it in reverse it pops right back out when i let out the clutch. and second gear clunks a little bit going in. i thought it might have to do with the lift and the transfer case. other ideas on this?
