06 jeep rock slider/bummpers/armor

ok guys im looking to rock sliders, bummpers, and armor. i want protection not style and the bummpers im looking at Smittybilt xrc bummpers i read reveiws on the bummpers and they were good and body armor need protection so let me know what yall think plz post pictures of what you have and tell me what u think of the products you guys have thanks ,trevor
sorry for the grammer in a rush to do stuff :wavey:
and i will be doing trail rides with the products so they need to be tough

Jeepzcb09 09-30-2010 06:20 PM

dont waste your money on smittybuilt, my buddy has the tube fenders and they have started to rust pretty bad in 6 months and they havent even seen snow yet... for armor i would look at Poison spyder,Savvy,MetalCloak, Rokmen, A to Z fab, etc

JeepDipper 09-30-2010 07:05 PM

what about smittybilt bumpers cause ive heared good stuff bout them

Jeepzcb09 09-30-2010 07:16 PM

Still not good, all their products have a terrible powdercoating covering cheap chinease metal, trut me, others will agree. Now that i think about check out TrailGear, they have similar prices but much better quality, not the best but i would run there stuff

JeepDipper 09-30-2010 08:22 PM

ok thanks ill check em out andwhat do u mean there not the best just wondering

Jeepzcb09 10-01-2010 11:54 AM

what i mean is that they are not the #1,top rated, best selling brand but are still great. If that makes sense lol Kinda like a good walmart brand that has nothing wrong with it, that ppl still buy and use everyday but its not the top dog. Simple answer: they make good stuff and there prices are tolerable.

jeepr 10-01-2010 03:03 PM

Smittybilt's powdercoating is terrible look around on these forums for a while and you will find that out haha spend the extra cash and get savvy

03 RUBI 10-01-2010 07:17 PM

Poison Spyder Ricochet rock sliders. Have 'em, love 'em.

JeepDipper 10-01-2010 09:36 PM

ok thanks guys i trust my fellow jeepers and thanks for the nfo bout smitty

village idiot 10-01-2010 09:44 PM

Rokmen and Savvy seem to be universally praised on this forum. I have many of the Rokmen products and there quality is superb.

Tj Timmy 10-01-2010 10:57 PM

I just got my smittybilt "crap" as some have put it and like it. It's a touch on the thin side but you would have to head on a big rock several, several, several times to make it to where it would be unuseable. IMO for the prices the "crap" is well worth the money. I know I'm going to catch hell about this post so let the comments begin, but I will still stand by my decision to buy the xrc front and scr rear bumpers that I have.

- I will be installing these hopefully on Sunday so I will post up pics after the install.

JeepDipper 10-02-2010 07:26 PM

yea idk why ppl say there crap but ive never had smitty partsbut there look well worth itbut then im thinking i need protection to cuz i dont want my jeep to look like crap idk im research and stuffand plz post pics after you install them and one questiong whats imo mean never cought onto it

Tj Timmy 10-02-2010 08:37 PM

IMO=in my opinion :)

JeepDipper 10-02-2010 11:13 PM

oh ok i feel dumb lol but some times ppl have to ask dumb questions if i think if im correct

ttim 10-03-2010 06:36 PM

i have the entire rokmen2.5 lift and underarmour setup. it is absolutely
the best money ive ever spent on this jeep, or any of my 5 jeeps. the trails
at moab, and around denver, have been much easier with this setup, and if
you get the chance to see their products up close, you would be crazy to try
anything else! go check their website, they have some video links to youtube
of their stuff being made, and some nice install videos. i took a tour of thier
place, and was blown away by the quality of work they do.
there are other quality parts out there, but they sold me on their stuff!
(i went in just to buy a winch bumper, and walked away with bumper, lift,
and belly tuck skids and underarmour!)

JeepDipper 10-03-2010 08:53 PM

lol and yea ive been looking at there stuff to its just idk all this jeep stuff is confusing parts wise and any body know where i can get a spacer lift

Jeepzcb09 10-03-2010 09:38 PM

Trail Gear beats the shit out of Shittybuilt, There prices are the same if not better and there quality is alot better aswell.

JeepDipper 10-04-2010 11:23 AM

ok guys im going all rokmen and poisonsyder products thanks for yalls help

JeepDipper 10-06-2010 06:15 PM

hay how are ypu guys doing i have another question
what is stronger 3/16" Hot Rolled Steel or 3/16" Aircraft Grade Aluminum
i dont want to go with stainless steel cause i just dont like how it looks
i am doing my bumper needs with metalcloak.com just give me your feedback it will be there helpful

ttim 10-06-2010 08:02 PM

no idea which is actually stronger. most people use aluminum because it is
lighter. ive always used steel, because its stuck (wrongly) in my head that
it is better. but i still cant get it out of my head, coz im stubborn :D. if im not
mistaken, aluminum is usually more $$$$. maybe this has changed too?
bottom line, which one do you like better? i like my rokmen front winch bumper,
because it works for me and if it gets scratched on the trail, its a spray can
fix. how easy is that?

for the same thickness steel is WAY stronger than any aluminum. I like metalcloak and poison spyder stuff.

JeepDipper 10-07-2010 01:49 PM

what is the diff. between these Fixed Fairlead and Roller Fairlead Bracket from metalcloak and would i need both of them for my wintch

TJNewbie 10-22-2010 04:26 AM

I've worked aircraft for 25yrs. steel is stronger than aluminum. and that phrase is just that. it's same quality as what's in most aluminum products. the stuff still cracks and breaks just the same. steel isn't gonna crack or break unless you're doing some real damage.

As the name implies a roller fairlead has rollers and a fixed fairlead doesn't. Use the computer to find pics online at any off road suppliers web site.
