Seems my jeep cant keep up with the throttle...?

I am having issues getting over 2k rpms even when my foot is to the floor.

I have a 4.0l 6I 5 speed with 33x12.5x15 tires, stock axles... exc... any advice?!

Are you in neutral when your foot is to the floor?

no when i am in neutral it seems i can get over 2k but when i am actually driving it seems it takes so much power to get over 2k rpms

this not an exaggeration? It takes me some time but _I can still accelerate in 5th gear past 2000rpms with a loaded trailer. somethings definately wrong ifyou cant do that

thats why im trying to see if anyone knows that im talking about, i know that i have a lifter issue but that should not be causing me to not exceed over 2k rpms

I was thinking that it may be caused by my exhaust because when i first got it the exhaust backfired, and it does seem to have the drone affect....

suggestions.

I would first say you should try driving in a lower gear.. If not electrical always seems to play a part what's your voltage on the battery? It should be 14

ya my bat is good everything electrical is a okay. im thinking also that it might be my timing... idk

my 87 was doing the same thing, I checked my timing and it was at about 14 degrees, set it at 9 and it feels better, revs up a little faster not to much but definitely better. Its really easy to check so its worth a shot.

Your Cat. could be clogged. If it is the only effect you would get is that you have no high end power. Try disconnecting to see if that's the problem.

Could also be a clogged fuel filter.
