Relocating springs

What do I need in order to relocate lift springs above axle? How difficult is the relocate?

How much lift do you have right now with your springs?

The only thing I can see is the front shackles. They look to be 10 inches long. There doesn't appear to be any body lift either.

10 inch shackles:eek: You got any pics of these? SOA requires spring perches be welded to the top of the axle. longer brake lines. new shocks, pittman arm drop. SYE kit mabey? I think 4wheelparts sells a SOA kit for like $400.

Prepare to spend a shit load of money for a proper SO.

no matter what you do, get rid of those shackles. A stock shackle is 3-4" and lift shackles add 1-2" inches from there. Anything above that is just scary.

How do you like the Howell injection? How much improvement in gas, acceleration and performance?

daddyjeep 03-07-2007 11:12 AM

The best mod I have made. I installed the header, high flow catylatic converter and the Flowmaster at the same time I installed the fuel injection. This all added up to a pretty substantial improvement in not only power, but also driveability. I can reach in and start it up now without even being in the Jeep. With the old carb I had to constantly work the gas to get it running and keep it running.

I agree with Big Daddy that adding Fuel Injection is still the best mod I have completed. I did not go the Howell route but still love the results.
BTW to stay on topic: Search for SOA (spring over axle) lots of info is available on the net.

I recently had this done. You need longer shocks $140-$250, You need a new Drive shaft with SYE kit, HD or SD(Tom woods $500-$575), spring perches, drop pitman arm and brake lines Rubicon express has all of this in a great kit for $300. If you do it yourself, then free labor, I had it done by a 4x4 shop in 2 days with a lifetime warranty on labor, total parts and labor came to under $1500. Another thing to consider is your axle breathers will need to be lengthened(88cent vacuum tubing at an auto store) also the wires that connect your 4wd vacuum to tell you that 4wd is engaged also need to be lengthened. and here is a site that helped alothttp://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/soa.html
Overall you get bewteen 5-6 inches of lift. oh yea your rear track bar will need to get removed unless you make custom brackets for it, but i ride with out track or sway bars.
Heres mine

BDS makes some good springs for spring over lift. Best thing is that they have a lifetime warranty. I have them on my Jeep and they work well.
