body lift question
has anybody had any problems with a body lift as high as 3 inches?

body lift over 1.25'' is a bad idea.

Yeah, definitely a bad idea to go with a 3" body lift...

Only body lift i would consider would be a 1" from performance accessories.

You'll find most people here aren't going to recommend anything over 1.25" Besides the issue with safety they create a noticeable gap between the bumpers and the body. They also do nothing more then allow a higher tire clearance, and therefore, you risk a higher chance of roll-over.

alright thanks guys, 3 inches seemed like overkill to me for a body lift. time for new tires and im tryin to fit some 33s on there. i can barely afford those tires let alone a lift too haha

A 2" BB will fit 33s with a little fender trimming. 31s will fit with no lift at all.

BB or MCE fenders would give you clearance on the front.

with the 1.25" do you have to do a mml?

jgorm 10-04-2010 10:20 AM

You never have to do a MML at the same time as the body lift, but if you are going to do a MML sometime in the future, then do it at the same time so you wont have to move the fan shroud.

its wise to do the MML - esp if you plan on adding a suspension lift. as it will allow you just a bit more room before you either need a Tcase drop, or SYE.

My Jeep had a 3" BL and 32" tires when I bought it. Other than looking janky I had no problems with rollovers and none of the 3" spacers ever broke. It actually handled great on corners as well. I replaced the 3" with a JKS 1.25" and 31" tires and it looks much, much better. I will go back to 32" tires sooner or later. Somewhere I had a thread with photos.
