Front Drivers Side Seat

My front drivers side seat doesn't fold forward, any of you guys know where or if I can get the bracket to make it do so? I've looked, searched the forum an even called a few places but had no luck. Any info will be appreciated!!

If you find one let me know. Test drove 04-06 models that had them. When I found my 02 didn't even think about it till I got it home and what do you know, no flip and fold drivers. Would have been a big help with the kid.

Yours should fold and tumble. Likely that the cable has broken. There's a write up on 4x4xplor.com - Jeep TJ Wrangler, JK, CJ and XJ Cherokee Write-Ups I think it is, that tells you exactly how to fix it.

Thanx Inferno for the link, but the jeep just wasn't equipped with the drivers-side fold-n-tumble. Still hope someone out there can direct me to the right place to look.

Is the 04 drivers side seat supposed to not only lean forward but lift and slide like the passenger does? My 04 only folds forward.

didn't think my 98 did either. cable broke and do not have a lever in front, but i can reach under the seat and find it. I look at it this way, anyone gettin in the back will have to use the passenger side and my seat stays set for me, although some day I'll probably get it fixed-i'm funny that way. I'll just keep telling ppl that it doesn't work :)

Sorry guys, just read my first post and it wasn't too clear. I want it to tumble like the passenger side. I do appreciate the responses though!!

I'm pretty sure the '04's fold and tumble too... What makes you think yours is different?

arcweldr76 10-09-2010 02:49 PM

I can see the difference in the seat frame when comparing between the driver and passenger side

Yea, the front drivers side bracket is not fold and tumble on mine either. I wonder if it was an option???

There have been may posts on the subject with clear conclusion what years/trim have fold/tumble drivers side. My 03 X drivers seat brack is not a fold/tumble

I have an 03 Rubi and my drivers seat doesn't fold and tumble. It's a real pain in the ass. My 99 had it on both sides. Wonder if it was a cost cutting measure. :banghead:

I had an 03 x and the passenger tumbled but the drivers doesn't because of the steering wheel...great invention...I just got a 2010 wrangler why it doesn't come with it I dont know. Does anyone know where I can get one....and if its possible
?

My '98 TJ sport model only came with the "tumble forward" seat base on the passenger side. The driver side would only allow the seat back to fold forward. I found a driver side seat base that allows it to also tumble by following a link in a EBAY post. That was four years ago, and I don't recall just now what the site was. It was a jeep salvage parts kind of operation. I had to drill down through the site, past bumper milk jugs, seat belt retractors, etc. I paid about $40 for it. I didn't have to specify I had a '98 model. I think the base was from a later TJ.

No one gets in the back of my jeep from the driver side. But it is useful for reaching in, vacuuming, etc. Anyway, well worth the trouble.

It was not Davey's Jeeps...but that would be a good place to look for you folks.

I've read discussions like this one several times over the years. Someone always says "you should have the tumble on yours...your cable is broken". But that's not always the case. There are two different driver side seat bases used. I don't know what the reason for that is.

The driver side "tumble" base is a mirror design to the passenger side. So they are not interchangeable. Pretty easy to remove the seat from the tub, remove the fixed base, bolt on the "tumble" base. If yours has it, you can depress a lever under the seat to release the tumble effect. I never bothered running a cable up the upholstery to a pull tab. It's easy to reach under and press down on the lever.
