Going goofey (softop install)
I just got a brand new mopar softop (dual top) for my 98(dirt cheap)
It's the hard door style(have sliders-considered hard doors)
Pretty much have it figured out except the short piece of paper that came with it. Says to un screw the fabric from windsheild header, go over the top of the header and re attach?? These instructions do not make much scense to me and it references the owners manual-which i do not have nor can i find one on-line (cept to buy) and i'd like to put it on today.
Did find a neat way to remove the hard top by myself using 3-4 ratchet straps.
this top is the type that attaches to the roll cage(2 tabs on the verticle member behind the front seats.
anyone have one of these-this is a complete new install and i really do not want to screw it up. I've searched(here and the net) and find fairly generic info but nothing specific to this top.

Piece of paper??? Do you have a picture? Not sure what you are referring to.

This was all I got with it. Got the frame/top, door surrounds and the windows. This was the only paper work(in original boxes-top/frame still had factory 'band' on it to be removed by owner

I misunderstood what you meant by piece of paper. Didn't realize you meant the directions. Anyway....As long as the fabric is attached underneath the header and when you clamp it down I think you are good. I'm wondering if the step that you are reading was already done prior to shipping. Good luck.

yes, it pretty much was-just had to fit the corners of the top around header. All in all it went fairly well considering i was 'winging it. I do have some minor repair to do to one of the straps-they were twisted and didn't really want to un-twist. Like to meet the nim-nard that used 2 pop rivets and 1 screw to hold it to the frame-should have just used screws. Just have to drill out the 2 pop rivets and use screws/washers.
All in all i like it and the 'rachet' hard top lift worked fine, though lowering it may be interesting(they only rachet in 1 direction) windows off-safari style-loved it. hopefully the weather will stay with us for a bit (indian summer) and I'll get some use out of it befor the hard top goes back on. not the quickest yet w/windows but sure that will come with use and still have to figure out how to fold the top completely down--best $350 i ever spent :)

If I had a nickel for everything I have had to 'drill' out of my Jeeps....
