Exhaust and Orange Roof marker lights

Just got an '07 Sahara Unlimited...does anyone know good brands that have realtively innexpensive exhaust systems? more or less, i want the car to be obnoxiously loud. Also, would the orange roof marker lights (the kind that hummers and trucks have) look strange on the JK?

GREEN-MACHINE 10-09-2010 05:14 PM

roof lights ??? if you go under a low branch, they will get ripped off.

As for a cheap exhaust, I have the Edelbrock axleback- sounds good on accel, not a lot of drone, and cost me $189 shipped direct from Edelbrock. Stainless steel, so it'll last you :) Mark W.

RB-10rubicon 10-09-2010 07:00 PM

If you want real cheap just take the muffler off two shackels and a clamp theres youtube videos on no mufflers on a jk

Cunnart 10-09-2010 07:29 PM

thaduke, do you have a sound clip of the exhaust?

InfernoGirl 10-09-2010 08:01 PM

What roof?

ncossey 10-09-2010 08:57 PM

Why i gods name would you want to make your jeep a huge bumble bee. The only thing more annoying than a smuck with a borla exhaust on his honda, is a smuck with a flowmaster exhaust on his v6 with glasspacks.

BlkMtnJK 10-09-2010 09:33 PM

roof lights go on a HMMWV not a jeep just sayin

sahara89 10-09-2010 09:36 PM

AFE power exhaust great sound great performance

gdub 10-10-2010 09:36 AM

If I wanted a Hummer...

Oh hell y'all know the rest...

InfernoGirl 10-10-2010 10:31 AM

Still wondering where on earth you plan on mounting roof lights?????

Randonizer 10-10-2010 10:51 AM

why would you want roof lights on a wrangler? its not a hummer

sosner33 10-10-2010 01:27 PM

i was just wondering if it would look strange...never really thought where i would put the lights

TR3YNGLER 10-10-2010 01:41 PM

Why would some of you all question motives and respond negatively to a new person's posts on this forum? How 'bout you keep your opinions on motives and negative comments to yourselves for just a little bit longer and try to be helpful for a change. dang! Is it that difficult to give a strait-up answer to a question without questioning why someone would be interested in something as cosmetic as exhaust and lighting? I could be a little more understanding if the question was about drivetrain or suspension or something like that as your opinions to the negative could save someone some time and money by encouraging them to question their decisions, possibly preventing some costly mistakes.

Everyone likes to think they are all nice and fun-loving on this forum but I have to say, as someone that doesn't spend nearly as much time on here as most, you all do have a tendency to be a little too quick with your negativity when the question or topic goes a bit outside the "norm" for you hard-core off-roaders. Just sayin.

Why would you think someone would put glasspacks on their rig if they have a flowmaster exhaust?

I think we are helping him with out negativity by telling them that roof lights and exhaust dont belong on jks... Oh and btw, if you honestly believe that he wouldnt want our 2 cents, why on earth would you think that we want yours.

InfernoGirl 10-10-2010 01:52 PM

 Maybe the home page should read... "Welcome to WF, conform or be chastised"... :)

TR3YNGLER 10-10-2010 01:53 PM

And, to be fair on my first comment. I changed my wording from most to some because I feel most of the folks on this forum are indeed nice and helpful, even fun-loving. Also, I don't mind being negative when it's done constructively and doesn't attack a person's mental state or question their motives or what they like as if they are morons. That's all I'm trying to say.

BlkMtnJK 10-10-2010 01:56 PM

Well if i were to put them on, they would go right above the window and be more forward facing and flat style like on the front of a semi.

Who the heck do you think you are to decided what "belongs" on a JK? You've proven, time and time again, that your opinion isn't worth 2 cents. And when I say "some", I mean you.

Do a photoshop of it so you have an idea of what you'll end up with.

My own personal experience with lights on top is that they are a PITA.
If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't. It is the one mod to my Jeep I regret the most and I am working on removing them now. Ordering parts and such.
They hang up on branches, increase wind resistance (on what is already a rolling brick) and make wind noise.

For mounting, if you put them directly on a hard top then you will need to be able to unplug them when you take the top off.

If you want to mount them with a soft top, you will need some sort of a light bar.

The loud exhaust:
*sigh*
It's not going to happen with a Jeep.
They just don't have what it takes to make a nice deep rumble.
What you'll end up with is something that sounds like it was kicked out of a ricer club. Go to youtube and search Jeep exhaust. You'll get a good idea of what can be accomplished by way of sound. Unless you're going to do a V8 swap, you'll never have that rich sound. A loud exhaust on a Jeep is all you'll hear. You won't be able to hear your music, your passengers and eventually you won't be able to hear yourself think. Jeeps are little metal boxes that are not very insulated, every noise gets right in there. It gets annoying in a hurry.

You can make it sound a little better with a different muffler, but it's pretty much a waste of money.

toshpate 10-10-2010 02:22 PM

to each his own. Had a flow master on my 8! And it sounded great. My kids lloved the big loud jeep. Plus it drowned out the tire noise. But recommend a better stereo to compete with all the noise. I had to install a sound bar

You do realize that you attacking me gives you absolutely no ground to stand on....he asked what we thought about yellow lights and mufflers, id rather be honest and say that it looks like garbage than sugar coat it and let him waste 500 bucks on something that he will probably regret in 6 months or less

 Heh Heh, in 1979 I built a "Huge Bumble bee", at least thats what my daughter called it-

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...by/OldCars.jpg

Had 11' lift and dual flowmasters, but 440 cuin/a727 auto and was very capable-now--

Forward to my '08 JKU Rubi, with roof lights

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m.../horses030.jpg

Just two in back, under the rack and-

Flowmaster 40-dual cat-back, kinda loud, but I KEEP the top on, so you can't really hearit, without opening the rear window, which is kinda fun off-road

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...catback001.jpg

Now my only reason for this post, is to tell you that I'm in favor of LOUD exhaust and against roof lights, unless they're purposful and I'm afraid orange ones ain't !!

Back to your favorite station !!

Cheers, I'm back in Ca, now

:rofl::rofl: JIMBO

What you want is acceptable man, but i dont think too many would advise on the roof lights, and the only benefit i could see on changing the muffler out would be getting rid of that huge bullseye on the back of your jk when offroading

JIMBOX 10-10-2010 02:46 PM

 Welcome and whats acceptable on YOUR jeep, is up to you--

You just have to THICKEN your skin for the ribbing, cause jeepers are a ROWDY bunch--

If you look at writeups and galleries, you can get an idea of whats POPULAR, but YOU should decide for your jeep--checkitout-
