aftermarket door hinge opinions...

I was looking at quadratec earlier today and i was looking at door hinges because mine are beat to hell and they are starting to rust. I was looking at the black powder coated hinges for the doors and the rear tailgate. What do you guys think? would the black hinges look bad on my red jeep or would you do it? thanks for the input...

Well I didn't know they made hinges. Mine are the same way paints chipping on them I considered taking mine off sanding priming and just shooting either white back on or maybe black? What were the prices on the set?

I like the looks of the black powder coat hinges. I do not have them on my Jeep, but have considered getting them

Yeah. I think I like them too and besides I don't really want to spend more money on having them painted to match the jeep. I think it would look boss as hell. The prices are pretty good. 24 bucks per set of hinges on the door and 19 bucks for hinges on the pan side. These that I am talking about are powdercoat stainless steel also

I think black looks awesome. however if you do this be prepaired for a nightmare. Most of the time the bolts are so locked from haveing lock tight on them that they will not come loose. You also have to watch out for the innerplate that you screw the bolts into. if it falls inbetween the outer and inner body panels you'll have a hect of a time getting a hold of it.
I wanted to put new hinges on the endgate. I ordered the black kentrol hinges and i absolutely could not get one bolt loose. I stripped out the head, then i had to drill into it, and broke the bit off inside the bolt. I tried an easy out and that also failed. I finally gave up and repainted the stock hinges on the jeep. If something happens that i need to get the endgate off i will probably have to torch it off which will probably ruin the endgate.

Some people have had good success doing this but most have not. Just be prepaired.... one would think it would be an easy job but sometimes it's not.

Thanks for the input. I guess I should try to loosen the bolts before I buy anything lol. That would be my luck, I would get everything ready to go and then I would get stuck with an issue like this. I'm not really liking the whole torx screws either I deal with them on a daily basis at work. They strip way to easy. How hard were the bolts in the door to remove? Were they easier than the tail gate?

The bolts in the doors were easier then the tail gate, but the back plate was a pain in the butt. I also had a problem with the new hinges for the doors. I had the black hinges on the drivers side ok but when i was putting on the hinges on the passenger side they did not fit well. The bolt holes would not line up so i ended up putting my stock hinges back on and sent those back to the place i got them. I was pretty bummed. I tried two different sets and both sets wouldn't line up so i gave up.

In the future if i need new hinges for some reason im gona just buy new factory hinges instead of aftermarket. I don't want to try this again .... it was a waist of time for me.
