Stoney Lonesome Ride.

Took another ride up to Stoney Lonesome ORV Park up in Cullman, AL. just outside of DODGE CITY. Yahoo!! Finally got a chance to test out my new Motorcraft AT2 275 60r 18's.

They finally opened up the new lodge and got rid of that damn trailer. Now I have a place to leave the wife while I rip up the trails. On my way back from riding I was airing up my tires when this older guy rides up to my JK on his Can Am four wheeler. To make an extremely long, long, long story short, I ended up showing him every feature about the JK that's different and better than pre-07. I also explained the Rubicon's capabilities that are different from my Sahara. He still liked the Sahara better, so I guess I just talked the guy into buying a JK. Never got a chance to finish airing up my tires, though.

Okay, down to business. The same hills I couldn't hope to have gotten up more than a couple of feet without spinning all four of those sorry ass 265 65r 18 inch Bridgestone Duelers I ran up with little or no effort at all.

When they say EXTREME JEEPS ONLY, they freaking mean what they say. I handled them all but didn't get a chance to reach their "Gutt Buster" and "Who's Your Daddy" hills. By the time I got around there it was already 4:30 and the park closed at 5.

There's an area at the park where there's a series of extremely tight hairpin turns that even a smaller CJ-5 would have trouble negotiating without several attempts. Made it up to the top.

This is the one extreme hill I didn't attempt because I didn't feel like ending up getting air-lifted out of the park.

This guy almost made it up to the top but he lost his front axle. Had to winch his way up to the top. If a dude in a killer rig like that rolling on 35's with a 4" lift and a small block Chevy V8 under the hood couldn't make it without breaking, I sure as hell wasn't going to try.

I shot this pic from halfway up the hill. Rock crawling is not my forte.

Unfortunately, all the creek beds and mud holes were dried up, so I didn't get a chance to see how the new tires would do in the mud. However, I did have a pretty decent time crawling down the dry creek bed--Ole' Hank on rotation.
