TJ Hubcap clips
I lost a hubcap because one of the three screws that goes into the steel wheel is missing. Each of these screws seems to have a special head or washer that goes into the holes on the back of the hubcap and holds the cap into place. The cap would flop around and "clack" with each wheel rotation at low speed, if anyone is chasing that sound around.

Anyway, the cap is gone completely now and I can get lots of used caps, but not the missing screw/clip part. The dealer wants $59 for the cap and THINKS, but is not sure, that the three screws/clips come with it.

Mine is a 1996 TJ with the primarily silver caps, with a black center disk with silver jeep lettering.

Any thoughts on where I can get the clips. Calling around junkyards is a drag and usually requires going out to see for myself.

Turns out that the new hubcap comes with the metal speed nuts already pressed onto the plastic posts on the inside of the hubcap. You are on your own for screws but a generic #12 hex head self-tapping metal screw, 1/2" to 3/4" long worked perfectly.

If you think about it, now that I finally did.. when would the cap ever have to come off except for mounting and balancing tires on the rim? You don't need to take the hubcap off to remove the wheel from the car. So if the person mounting and balancing takes the time to unthread the hubcap mounting screws from the inside of the wheel when it is off the car, rather than just prying or popping off the hubcap, what happened to me shouldn't happen at all. The metal speed nuts should never have to come off the inside of the hubcap.
