What's your brand...

...of Coffee?

I am a Dunkin Donuts man myself, but I dabble in Wawa (Mid-Atlantic thing) and occasionally McDonald's if I'm stopping for breakfast.
I work in a college town which, other than being great for the libido, it also provides one with ample selection of coffee choices.

dunkin donuts is okay when i am on the road, but at home i drink "Omars". That is one of the coffees that you get in good food places. just so happens to be produced locally in newington, ct.

jeffk42 10-22-2010 07:39 AM

I have mine shipped, usually the Roasterie or George Howell Terroir Coffee Company

Comes in quick, plenty of time to keep it fresh and freeze it if you order the beans and grind it yourself.

Don't do it if you don't want to be spoiled, though. Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, all that crap is nearly untouchable once you have the good stuff! :)

The place I stop at serves First Colony

daggo66 10-22-2010 08:07 AM

I used to only drink freshly ground beans. I've gotten lazy and drink whatever Mrs. Daggo66 puts in the coffee pot. It's so much easier to just walk over to the counter and pour a cup that someone else made.

GREEN-MACHINE 10-22-2010 09:08 AM

maxwell house at home, dunkin or green mountain when out and about + my KOOLS

firehawk_1989 10-22-2010 09:21 AM

maxwell is disgusting! :p freshly ground beans it the best, but lately I've been cheap and lazy and have been drinking folgers. been wanting to try dunkin donuts, never had that.

When I was leading SCUBA trips throughout the Caribbean every 3 weeks, a common layover (and sometimes destination) would be Jamaica. I got hooked on Jamaican Blue and could buy it CHEAPLY, unlike buying it here in the States where there's a huge mark-up. I stopped drinking caffeinated coffee a good number of years ago though. A slow, steady hearbeat is imperative for proper sight picture. :D

Mr. Sinister 10-22-2010 10:57 AM

What, no love for Sanka??? I figured some of you old coots would still be hanging on!!

aelwero 10-22-2010 11:10 AM

"grandma's" cappucino :) I have no idea what brand of beans she buys though. I've been banned for life from grocery trips.

Stuff costs 20 bucks a pop now, here thst is.
And coffee leads to bad things... Got off that junk and went to green tea. Much healthier now

Six Gun Matt 10-22-2010 11:18 AM

the wife and i are addicted to freshly ground starbucks beans brewed in a french press. i think any freshly ground coffee is way better in a french press, but then again i like my coffee strong.

shirocz 10-22-2010 11:22 AM

I don't drink coffee, DD is just a traffic hazard

you're not missing much, trust me. those same crazed women (and some men) that you see on the highways in their 8000 pound behemoth suv's drive a grocery cart the same way.
or you get the middle-aged bachelors shuffling about, with their heads down looking for a noose to put them through.
i hate the mid-atlantic.......

YAHAHA 10-22-2010 12:27 PM

My coffee brand is either OP or ON SALE.

you ain't kidding!!
the DD i go to is on a major 4 lane road. there is a turnaround about 20 yards up the road from it, so you get eastbound traffic driving down the westbound lane to reach the entrance. the local PD actually set up a big electric sign saying "No access to Dunkin Donuts. Make U-Turn at next light" because it was getting so bad. themn you get a$$hole truckers (not all truckers are a$$holes, but the ones who do this sure are) who will park their rigs right next to the entrance/exit, so you can't see a damn thing when trying to pull out, and people can't get on the shoulder to turn in so you get people slamming on the brakes not paying attention to the person in front of them.

it's madness out there.

my daily drink of choice is lipton hot tea, but i like a nice cup of swamp water every now and then.

Costco Colombian beans. Grind em fresh for the wife and me for our 1 cup a day.

I use coffee bean direct Coffee Bean Direct Coffee Roasters: Quality Coffee and Tea at the Best Prices

Maybe it isn't as good as the 2 you listed, but it sure is less expensive! example: 5 lbs of good Colombian Supremo at Coffee Bean Direct is 31.75. At George Howell Terroir, 12 ozs is 14.95. I'm hesitant on discovering if the difference is worth it, since the stuff I get from there is excellent. The Brazilian Santos is what I usually buy. Can't drink the crap from the store, and Starclucks is nothing but burnt beans with a high price. I take a thermos of my own brew. It's better than any fast food sludge.

GroundHawg 10-23-2010 12:22 PM

coffee is coffee to me. much the same way beer is beer. as long as it's strong and fresh, i love it.

if i had my choices though, i would probably rank starbucks regular, denny's, and folgers as my top 3. i drink maxwell house, and sheetz the most however. my girlfriend likes "coffee flavored kool-aid"...meaning 1 scoop in a 12 cup brewer, loaded with sugar. i have my own brewer, 2 scoops in a 6 cup maker. light sugar and light cream.

i drink 2 cups and i'm wired.

Jerry Bransford 10-23-2010 02:00 PM

I drink black MJB at home, whatever they're serving elsewhere. I'm definitely no coffee snob and with less than a half-dozen trips into Starbucks with friends, I'm not impressed with their overpriced coffee in the least.

And for you younger types who aren't drinking coffee yet, don't add that first teaspoon of sugar or cream to make it taste like a kiddy drink and you'll be happier later on. Drink it black and you'll save a lot of time and trouble in the future by not having to worry about asking for sugar, cream, etc.. My dad told me that before I left home for the military and it turned out to be great advice.

I live in NYC, parents live in Seattle. They actually favor Park Slope, Brooklyn-based Gorilla (available online if you are not here) over anything they get out there, but that might just be polite behavior, innate to native Virginians. My friend SWEARS by Blue Bottle coffee in Williamsburg which I thought was pretty decent. *note: pretty decent

Oddly, at perhaps a tenth of the cost of either of those, Chock-Full-O'-Nuts is actually really good and extremely cheap. With grad school debt and Brooklyn rent, CFON is my day to day jam right now with Gorilla and BB my treat on the weekend.
