What do we think about the stage 1 Jet chips for JKs? Do they do anything? Do they void warranties? If they void warranties, can't I just pull it out before any service appointments and thus "sneak by"? Etc. Etc.
Q-tec's website talks about them like they've come from the heavens. It's hard to believe they're that great, but a few extra ponies would sure be nice in a JK.
I know of course a custom tune is best, but if a Jet chip produces 80% of the results at 50% of the cost, it could be worthwhile.
Junk. Anything that piggybacks on the factory computer is garbage. Their claim of 25hp is ridiculous. Even a custom tune on a stock JK is probably only going to net you 15hp tops. the instructions state you sandwich it between the factory computer and harness. if it even LOOKS like you're messed with the PCM, goodbye warranty and let me tell you, if the bolt head on the harness even looks like it's had a wrench on it, they will raise an eyebrow. What this module does is reads the factory data real-time, then writes it's own alterations to the code and sends the data out. Ask any guy who used piggyback tuning on supercharged hemi cars before they cracked the PCM's code what they think of piggyback tuning.
You'd be better off (in a matter of speaking) with the Diablo Predator or Superchips Flashpaq. A quick search on this forum will net you all the info you could ever need to know about them.
